A hole you say?
In Brooklyn, NY?
Must have been a drive by

Seriously, if its a hole, I worked on many C1's back in the day. Backing, fiberglass, resin, catalyst.

But I am thinking you just mean a chip. I have a few on my '09, not big enough to worry about. It's always traumatic on the first couple.

There are fillers that you can use but I haven't tried them yet. Maybe some others have some current experience. Relax

Take it to a body shop and have it fixed. Pay the man - lesson of life.

Why are you balancing tires / wheels on a new car?

Depending on the size of the chip, here is what I do when I get a chip, scratch, or keyed is: (1) clean the area free of dirt and oil. (2) apply a thin coat of touch up paint and let it dry for about 12 hours and then repeat until the repair paint is higher or thicker than the factory pain. (3) find a good body shop and have them wet sand the area. Now my car is black so it is a lot easier to do then some colors.

Good luck with your repairs!

Touch it up at least it won't be sticking out at you every time you look at the car, it won't be perfect but it is better than that.

Perhaps later on have it don't the right way, during the winter, when you don't need your car.

I had an almost identical chip in the same place on my Victory Red, except mine was maybe not as deep. The white "fiberglass" was visible but not much of it missing.

My solution was to clean it carefully, let dry, and "dab" the GM touchup paint into the white area. Being careful not to do any buildup on the surrounding paint. Let dry overnight.

If it was on the hood, my method would look pretty bad. But down on the rocker, even people who saw it before the touchup, have a hard time finding it. Fifteen minutes of driving produces enough road dust and crud to make it invisible.

Then, go drive that puppy!

Get a set of pucks and never let any shop jack your car without them. I make them put it in writing on the order, and when they are done, take a complete walk around car before leaving.

Don't let it ruin the "new car experience." You'll have it fixed before you know it and you'll be polishing the car all winter long in preparation for next spring.

Get to drivin and enjoyin ! You just got the car and you need to keep the excitement going ! Besides, the chip doesn't slow the car down any......

Unless you're experienced with paint and body work, have it professionally repaired. Get it done right.

I would agree with the advice to have it repaired by a body shop. Make sure the shop is Vette qualified as you don't want to use standard body filler.

You could try to minimize it yourself by buying resin based filler and a catalyst( hardener). The stuff ain't cheap. Around $25 for a quart. Haven't seen it in smaller quantities. Practice with adding some catalyst to a small amount of resin in some throw away container like a delicatesen container, so you see how quickly it will harden. Cause it is a bitch to work with after it begins to harden. Then apply a small amount at a time. Get something like a popsicle stick to spread it and smooth it out. Then you can add some touch up.

This will not be anywhere as good as a professional job, but will lessen the appearance of that deep chip.

Also, never allow anyone to lift your car without using jacking pucks. Although, I don't see how someone could have caused that in the process of lifting your car.

Default Ask a local dealer

for the person/company they use for these minor repairs.
I had a Mustang that the dealership managed to scrape the poo out of the right rear bumper. They said they would have it fixed by their touch up guy. I guess they have a contract with one of these mobile ding/dent guys. The guy did a perfect job and I am sure it didn't cost a fortune.
Just an idea. Good luck.

You are lucky they didn't crack the rocker panel, which usually happens when an inexperienced lift jockey puts the car on a lift without using pucks. I'd look carefully at both rockers to be sure you don't have hairline cracks and then I'd have that gouge repaired by a professional.
