I hope there is a Corvette guy reading this that really knows his stuff! I have an 2006 coupe and would like to upgrade my center console to the new carbon fiber look. I know the 2008-09 will fit but no one seems to know if the 2010+ will fit.
I was told that the quality of the 2010 was better i.e. more refined stiching etc.
I want to go with the newest I can. Any advice? Will the 2010 fit?
Well, we went from a complete 2006 car to a 2009 car. I think the newer console looks trashy:
You know it isn't real carbon fiber.
The shiney surface shows every fingerprint, scratch, or bit of dust.
The silver on the steering wheel doesn't match anything else in the cockpit.
The stitching around the 2009 console looks a little better than the stitch-less 2006, but not enough to overcome the other issues.
You have several options that are of considerably higher quality than the stock 2008 or 2010 part. I went with the DS Vettes version of the 2008-2009 bezel. They pull off the "pleather" and replace it with high-quality, stitched leather. Here's what it looks like:
If you want to go ultra high quality, check out this thread by DS Vettes. The work in the included photos is absolutely top shelf.
You can always go for real carbon fiber if you don't like the other "look" but like Mike said above, you'll be talking big dollars. Again, Lino at VetteCandy for real carbon and also ApsisUSA for the same. Or you could do that wood applique thing with real mahogany.
