best? that's a very subjective opinion. they've both been around as companies for a long time and doing the clear bra biz. I'd say the products are both good. the key is finding a great installer who backs his work and the product. a good way is to see if there are any "group installations" recently for any make of car.
We had ClearShield by Solar Gard (http://solargard.com/Auto/Clearshield) installed a few weeks ago....in the short time we have had it, it seems to a good product. The main reason we went with this is we won it at a local dealers Vette Celebration in May.
i've got 3m now and it's been great. now i could be wrong but i think i've read the nano film has less of an orange peel look than the 3m. there is a nano film installer on the forum and maybe he'll chime in.
The installer at auto shields in north carolina will be doing the work. They sell both but had not put the nano film on a vr corvette.I'm buying the car and don't want to put 900 miles coming home without the protection. They like the look and install of the nano film but on some colors and certain sun light the color under the film looks a little darker.I would be the first red vette with this material.I may have to go a day earlier and see both films on the car.I really wanted it done beforehand so i could get started home.

I've had Ventureshiled on 2 Vettes and am putting it on my new one. It's really the quality of the installer but I've also heard nothing but good things about Ventureshield. I believe it's a 3M product too.
I have had 2 Corvettes and a GMC truck done with the Avery Nano material. It has to deal with the hot Vegas temperatures and it has been excellent.
Here is a link to a company in Vegas and their photo tab. Some good photos of a Corvette with the clear bra installed on the front and behind the front and rear wheel wells. The site has a bunch of good info about their product. Hope this helps. http://www.pro-tectfilm.com/category/photos/
I'd like to hear more about this too. I saw a black 2003 with a clear bra a couple of days ago and the only way you could tell was the bright sun and a fine line across the hood.
I looked at the Avery Nano myself since I have to replace the clearbra on my front bumper due to a road gator. It seems to be more tolerant to swirls. Ventureshield, while a great product, is easy to scratch.
i use 3M on all my vehicles. it is the most forgiving of all the film because it has a clear coat on it, see above post. some don't like it because it has a little OP on it (just like the paint which i don't understand is a problem). 3M is the "OG" of protective flim going back to the 60's on military chopper blades.
Both are designed as paint protection film - so from a protection stand point there are both equal. 3M offer 5 yr warranty vs Nano Fusion offers lifetime. Nano has no orange peel vs 3m has orange peel. 3M has a clear coat finish vs Nano fusion has a nano infused layer for durability and protection. #m film has been on the market for 4 year ( 3rd gen) teh Nano Fusion for about a year. Both offer great scratch resistance, high gloss. We offer Nano fusion as a premium film and 3M as the base film. We also offer XPEL film.
I am an installer. I have been using Ventureshield for 7 years now. 3M has never been an option for me because the orange peel in 3M is terrible. It also only has a 5 year warranty. Now I have been testing the Nano film and I have to say so far it is the best film I have seen. And I have installed just about every film out there at some point. The Nano film is as slick as paint and it does not stain. I will be switching over to it very soon since it has done so well over the last 6 months that I have been testing it. To me there wouldn't even be a debate on 3M or Nano. Nano is hands down the better film and also has a lifetime warranty. Go with the Nano film and I promise you that you will be happy you did.

OK,i called the installer in north carolina and they will install the nano film next week. Now that is done, they use a computer to cut the pattern. Is this good or bad as some feel it should be done in one piece and cut to fit buy the installer. Not crazy about a knife being used on the paint.
Exacto blades are a fact of the business. If your installer claims no knives, he is either lying or he isn't doing a great job.
The really talented and experienced installers can feel the cut, and just score the film and then tear.
Computer cut isn't that great, the best way to go is an installer laying bulk film on the car and cutting away. Don't be scurrred.
I have to disagree with you. there are only a handful of installers that can custom install without cutting the paint. I dont care wht you say I have seen NUMEROUS so called "great installers" that just score the film only to remove their work and find cut marks. The customer wont ever see them until the film is removed because the cuts are along the films edge. I do not use any blades on the paint... but I do use the best patterns in the business (Proform and Xpel) who design their kits with wrapped edges. Maybe you arent "scurred", but most people should be. getting your paint cut up defeats the purpose of getting a clear bra. But more power to you...
I know what texas is saying.A friend of mine had some stripes done and it was a great job, until he damaged one. When we went to pull off the stripe to replace it the hood had long lines cut into the paint. Now he has custom lines.
I've been very happy with my 3M. I've had it on since about 500 miles and now my 05 is up to 63k. Still looks great and has saved my paint. Oh yeah and 5 years with it on in the Florida sun.
