Default Getting hot and bothered

Have a 06, A6, CAI, Corsa, stock thermostat, approx 10K, all pretty stand stuff, but the car is now running hot. Out with it the other day - approx 68-70 degree weather and anytime I stop in traffic, lights etc. the temp would go up to 220+. Moving, the temp would come down, but not a long way - 10 degrees +-. Not good. All fluids are up, so nothing is low.
Question, could the fan be giving a problem? Anybody else have a heat problem with their car?

You're not in the red at 220. Mine gets to around 215 sitting at traffic lights. Runs just fine.

My 05 manual is usually at 190-195 even in 90 deg temps. 220 seems high. Is the fan working properly?

Consider finding a good shop and getting a tune.

I am just jealous you get to drive in 68-70 degree weather this time of year. Still 110 in Phoenix in Sept!

210 in normal street driving when its 70 outside seems high to me. I'd have the system checked.

Tucson isn't as hot as Phoenix but come September I'm sick of the heat! Look on the bright side...when so many Corvette owners are mothballing their car for the long, cold winter we're cruising with the top down.

when 95 degrees out, "stuck" in traffic, mine will hit 220, but cool right down once moving.
Usually runs 195 - 210 depending on weather temperature and traffic.
09, A6 with 7500 miles and has done it since new

Your car is just fine at those temps....but the Corvette is a bottom breather and is known to vacuum up things on the road under the front bumper (plastic bags are the worst).
If you are seeing a sudden increase in the normal temps, check underneath the car in front of the radiator for bags, leaves and other misc "stuff"...........I was amazed at one point of all the crud I pulled out from there on my C5!

Its a little hot but not dangerous...I'll bet something is blocking a little of the airflow.

a knowledgeable Corvette tech, when the car is on a lift, will use gentle air pressure to clean out leaves, dust, dirt by reverse blowing the radiator/coolers. even the seeming "clean" ones, blow out junk---I'd agree with ccl and c6nr.

and your temps are ok.

My '07, mn6 runs right at 220 give or take year round. Been like that since I got it.

If we didn't have all those nice instruments we wouldn't worry about those things!

I was going to say the same thing - we never worried about stuff like this back in the day of 'idiot lights', or the small instrument temp gauges that were probably accurate +/- 40 degrees...now we have this digital stuff reading out single degree changes, it's

Just turn the DIC readings off - if things get dangerously hot the car will tell you.

While the temps you are showing might not be considered excessive, make sure the fan is working. It costs nothing to check.

In 68 degree weather, did you have the air conditioner turned off?

If our Corvette operate like Cadillacs, when th AC is off, the computer will let the temp go up to about 220 degrees before turning the fan on. If the AC is on, the fan runs all the time.

Can someone with a service manual look this up and see what it says about how the fans run with the AC off?
