Corvette fire
My 2005 corvette caught on fire yesterday. It was in my driveway with a cover on it and i came outside and it was smoldering with the cover burning. The fire seems to have started around the gas tank and the drivers door handle. Has anyone heard or witnessed this happening/ the arson investigator says it was undetermined. The gas tank area was burnt badly enough for the gas lid and fill tube to have dropped down onto rear tire. There is a burnt wire remaining in the gas fill area. Electronic mishap? I wonder. Help!!! Please ask a moderator to move this to the C-6 section if your car is an '05. This is the first I've heard of a C-6 having a fire take place.

The OP will have the real story I'm sure, but I'm thinking they'd call in an arson investigator to determine if it was truly an accident, or just somebody trying to get an insurance company to pony up for their financial hardships... I read something about that recently, where many more people do this when the economy is down the crapper.

I do apologize for this unfortunate incident. I am just glad that no one was hurt. If you could, can you please send me your First and Last Name, VIN, and contact information in a private message? I would like to have this looked into further for you. I have not heard of C6 having anything similar to this. Again, I apologize for the inconveniences you are experiencing right now.
