I was on the discussion of C5 and should have been C6. If you all didn't know I have a 2005 Corvette that caught fire in my driveway. It had not been driven for 3 weeks except to back it out of the garage the evening before the fire, to clean the garage. It was then covered before discovering it on fire the next day. The intensity of the burn was on the drivers side next to the door opening and the fuel cover. The fire was "undetermined" by the fire dept. 915 miles with no fire insurance. Anybody out there hear of something so crazy. Filed an incident report with GM.
I think many owners cancel there insurance while the Corvette is in winter storage. May not be worth it.
We never completely cancel our coverage when our vehicle(s) are not being used for long periods. We carry what our Insurance Co. calls,
Storage Coverage. We are covered for fire, storm, wind and theft. Did this a lot with our motor coach and car's being left back home while we're traveling. Reduces the premium considerably.
OP, sorry to hear about your predicament. I guess you had your reasons, but I'm at a loss as to why the lack of coverage. Good Luck.

Can't do that in Maryland. If its tagged or if you don't renew the registration, they'll nail you for state insurance and fines. Ain't nanny government great?

If op had nanny government he wouldn't be out a whole lot of dollars.

The first seems to have died with folks asking a lot of questions and getting no answers.
I posted the following and subsequently unsubscribed from the thread:

I also find it interesting that the OP has not responded to any of these questions - apologies if I missed something. Don't think so though, there is only one post in this thread from the OP.
VET4LES,

The only insurance you are required to have in Maryland is liability (which covers the other guy), uninsured motorist and PIP which covers you and your passengers medical bills. The nanny government still lets you drive without collision or comprehensive insurance on your own car.
The Maryland system is quite effective in making sure that drivers have insurance on their cars. If you get canceled, or your insurance lapses, your insurance company is required to notify the MVA immediately. The fines for not having the required insurance are quite high, and must be paid before you can re-register your car, or register a new car. This is designed such that the fines are far more than even what MAIF would charge the worst drivers.
