OK basically my HUD is loose so it doesn't show on the windshield but if i look down inside i see that its on. the up/down buttons don't change anything so I'm assuming its mounting bolts backed out. Anyone have issues with this or how to fix it?
1. To fix it, the HUD has to be removed. Maybe it can be repaired. But will the repair work? And how long will it last? Might as well get a new one -- I think it's about $225 from partstaxi.com.
3. Another method involves "cutting the duct." MUCH simpler and far easier. An experienced installer can do this in an about an hour. The duct is re-installed, so HVAC functions are not affected.
4. DIY if you're handy. Lots of forum members have added HUD to 1LT/2LT cars; your job would be easier b/c you don't need a new wiring harness. Here's a thread with tips, pics & links: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-c...my-09-1lt.html
5. Maybe there's a forum member near you that's done this job and could walk you thru it.
It can be fixed or replaced, just a matter of how much you want/can do yourself and how much $$ you want to spend.
Edit: Meant to say when they drop like that it usually means one of the mounting tabs broke, so likely it will have to be replaced.
Even if the mounting bolts were totally missing, the HUD unit is held in place by the dash. It might move up & down a fraction of inch if you hit bumps while driving.
But missing bolts would not affect the up/down adjustment while you're parked.
1. Eliminate the obvious: press the (+) dimmer switch to full brightness. Then try adjusting the display thru its full range -- completely up, then completely down.
Of course, the engine must be running for the HUD to work.
2. Check the CLSTR/HUD fuse in the passenger footwell. Your owners manual shows the location.

Typically what causes the issue you are talking about is the pivot for the mirror breaks. I have seen a couple of guys do through this. Some have had success with taking it out of the car, disassembling the HUD (4 bolts), and epoxying the broken pivot point. It really comes doewn to, do you want to try to fix it and possibly do it over again, or just replace it the first time and know it's fixed. Personally, I would try to fix it first, just to see if I could, but I'm weird that way
yeah, if i look from above the window i can see it turned on inside the dash, its just not reflecting i guess its the mirror thing then. I'll work on it this weekend and try to fig it out.
