Default Navigation Computer Question

Does anyone know what kind of computer or processor drives the Corvette navigation/audio system, and whether we can look forward to GM upgrading this software for a whole new nav in the future? Or will we be stuck with a relatively rudimentary nav system that can only be "cured" by an aftermarket upgrade?

I don't think any car will ever see a great factory system. There are too many customer needs to satisfy everyone. It would be best if the car manufactures would come up with a standard so adding aftermarket units was easier and wouldn't lose features (like nav on hud). This could be done, but I doubt GM or any other manufacturer will do this. Lotus, however, already puts "aftermarket" units in their cars (the Elise comes with an Alpine).

I have no inside contacts but I'm 100% sure that the C7 will have a totally new system. The C6 NAV is now 6 years old and there are no updates to the basic system just data updates.

Radio Shack TRS-80. Where did you think all those old computers ended up? Part of GM's "Green" program.
