Default Fuel cap

Anyone have problems with there gas cap.I have a 07 vert,25000 miles.Turning the cap to the left takes it off.To install you can turn the cap until you hear 3-4 clicks and most of the time you can still pull the cap off,so you go through the drill again.May just need a new cap.

Mine is pretty easy to get off as well. I'm never really sure that it is getting a good seal. I asked my dealer and he said that if I don't get it on correctly the DIC will tell me to check the gas cap. I haven't gotten a message so I assume it is good.

Mine does the same, 3 or 4 trys before it secures other wise it pulls right off. And still it does feel like it locked on. But I can't pull it off. The first few times I was feel like it not smarter then me. I just take it thats the way it is.

The dealer will give you a new one. It's still under the federal emissions warranty.

When I first got my 08, I thought I had problems with the cap, too. I finally figured out that you do not push it in to tighten it, just spin it around to the right for at least 1/2 turn. No problems ever since.

The ratchet mechanism in the cap is starting to strip out. I would go to the dealer and get a new one. If you don't, you will eventually get a engine service light.

No problems with my '07 so far but this is something to watch for. Thanks for the heads up.

You are absolutely correct! I use to have the same problem until I tried the technique you mentioned...just sit the cap in the filler neck, without pushing it down and turn the cap to the right. It will then "catch" and not pull off. Works everytime for me.
