I have a ported LS7 intake from a forum vendor that is known for great work. I tried to contact them today, and want to get everything back together before Monday, so I'm not bashing, just in a hurry.
This is the seam between the top and bottom half of the intake runners. Numbers 1, 2, 7, and 8 are the worst; numbers 2 and eight have material behind the open seam. The last two pics are of runner 8 (runner 1 is the same); it does not have any material behind the seam and it flexes and opens up with a little pressure from my thumb.
I saw this thread earlier but didn't reply because I have no expertise in such things. FWIW, I can't imagine how that would be right but......dunno.
Did you ask in the Tech Forum? There are more guys running this type of stuff over there, might get a better response.
Again, no pro, but you port intake manifolds and cylinder heads to improve the quality and quantity of the air flow. That is going to catch air and cause turbulence which goes against everything porting is trying to accomplish.
rather than do a double thread which will get deleted by the moderators (rightfully so), copy your thread url/title, go to the main C6 Gen page and at the bottom are a list of moderators. pm one with the thread/title and ask them to move it to C6 Tech.
I agree that the concept is to smooth out the inside and that this looks wrong. whether it is or not is another question.
