Default Npp ?

I picked up my 09 zo6 last week and gave it several coats of zanio. When I went to clean the exhaust tips, I noticed the baffles were in the open position when the engine off? After a closer inspection, I found the valves were tide open with thin copper wire? My though is the previous owner tide the linkage arm with wire to keep the valves open. Question, what position should the valves be in when the engine is off? Closed or open.

Open. Vacuum produced by the engine at low RPMs keeps the valves closed while the engine is running.

Thanks for the info. I'm waiting for a Wild to Mild setup to arrive for full control of the valves which has to be better then copper wire! Guess after spending $75 grand, the guy couldn't afford a W to M switch?

I haven't found any additional dumb additions but I'm still looking. Beyond the mickey mouse wire job, the car appears to be rock solid. Its like being strapped in a low flying rocket with power to spare!

I hate to be nitpicky but I couldn't resist: the correct spelling is "tied", not the spelling for the popular brand of laundry detergent ("Tide").

Hey Clark, thanks for the spelling correction! Should have used my spell checker. Just one additional comment, if you really want to show everyone how intelligent you are, why stop with a simple spelling corrections? You should have corrected the punctuation at the end of (Closed or open.). A question usually requires the use of a "?" mark, not a period. I'm sure readers understood the message, with or without the correction and yes, you shouldn't nitpick, its childish and impolite.

To continue the childish and impolite; You don't have an NPP exhaust unless you swapped in a '08 to '11 Base C6 or GS NPP exhaust. The Z06 exhaust is standard, not the NPP option of the C6. Different diameter pipes, different mufflers and different tips.

yeh, but the principal (sic) is still the same, npp or z07 (sic) exhaust with flappers.

My 09 Z06 has the flaps in it too, and i have an m w switch in it. love that system. i bought the car new. it is quieter than my coupe and convertible both with npp exhaust but they all have the flaps, all m2w switches.

i'm not nitpicking, i'm just sayin'
