Default DRL disable

Nevermind! Yanked the #8 fuse. Signals, flashers ok, no DRLs! Sweet! Then JoesC5 pointed out that you also lose the markers and taillights, which apparently perform some useful function. Grrr.

Just a question but why would you want to disable your DRL?

Some here have done that, but got error codes popping up. Also, be aware that you no longer have front turn signals.

Seems pretty simple....but some people have to find a more difficult way around it.

I thought everyone knew how to disable the daytime running lamps by flicking back the ring on your light stalk. Much easier than messing with that fuse, and possibly screwing something else up at the same time.
SO EASY to DO!

When in my garage in daytime it's pitch black in there so to save my headlights I turn that switch when I start car and no front lights come on. If I want to put Drl's back on from this point all I do is flip the switch any time I want to for drl's to come back on.

You might want to check the function of your other lights since you pulled fuse #8, like the front and rear side markers and the taillights, in addition to the DRL's.

Rats! I knew it was too good to be true. I was aware of the markers, but not the taillights, which are potentially quite useful! The signals and flashers of course, work fine, as you know since you've clearly tried this and know what you're talking about. There's gotta be a way to do it, I'm sick of having to twirl the stalk every time I fire up the car!

I'm sorry.. when you are driving you are in your car, why does it matter if your DRL's are on or not? I just don't get it, you can't see them....

They're a safety item - supposedly other drivers can see your vehicle better when the DRL's are on. The down side is that over time, their sockets are not designed properly to withstand the high temperatures given off by the bulbs causing the sockets to dry rot quickly. LED bulbs would be the answer if someone could simplify the retrofiting installations.
For now, I leave my DRL's on around town and turn them off using the switch when I'm on the interstates for long periods of time.

I've had my 06 since May of 2006, never had to change a bulb or anything, I daily drove mine up until 2 weeks ago when I got a daily driver, I have over 64,000 miles on it and never an issue with bulbs or connections.

That's a good idea on the freeway. You can see those DRL's for over a quarter mile when driving on freeway coming towards it from the opposite direction.
If you use DRL's less and won't they and turn signals last longer.
