Wow...you all have been fortunate enough to not have been involved in a bad accident and that is great.
However, if you ever are, as my husband and I were a few years back, you'd be singing a different story.
When your car is not driveable, you are totally disoriented, wondering what the heck just happened
because you are now sitting in the grassy median on the interstate when you were cruising along
at 80mph, it is a little comforting to hear an OnStar rep asking if you are okay or if you need
any assistance.
They were there when we needed them and none of our vehicles will ever be without it.
My sentiments exactly!
"It's better to have something you don't need than to need something you don't have."
OnStar - It's like driving with a guardian angel watching over you.
I don't have a cell phone and never will have one.
The radiation emitted from cell phone usage can and does cause brain tumors.
Then OnStar is right for you. Some people still have black & white tv's and I have no issues with that either.
I live in a large city and travel in suburbs where children in kindergarten have cell phones and know how to dial 911. GOD forbid I'm in an accident and I cannot dial I'm certain everyone around has one.
The $150-$200 a year can be used on many things including charity.

Buying the Vette really stretched my budget. It just so happened the dealer had a Monterey red vert without OnStar in his inventory. I didn't feel I needed it, and it saved me some money.
Outstanding point. For the little OnStar does it is overpriced. However, it does send you a email with the cars tire pressure.
Some on this thread applaud OnStar's life saving ability. That is fine. But, the system should have that single option for $4-5 a month. All the other stuff is completely useless and obsolete. Absolutely awful tech compared to Ford's superior SYNC system.
Not only do I not have On star I refuse to buy just about anything that GM sells that does have OnStar as standard equipment. (Today that means everything they sell.) The only exception MIGHT be another Vette if I ever get tired on my non OnStar 07Z06.
As people that have bought over 40 new top of the line vehicles’ my wife just bought yesterday a new SUV from another company and a few months ago I bought a new 4x4PU. We did not look or even consider a GM. I have had it with GM and all its defaults, lighting systems you cannot control and now mandatory Onstar.
