My brother got in a little trouble with the law, and I am storing his 2009 Corvette. I went to storage to let it run a bit, but it has a dead battery. I hooked up a jump starter to it, and the display says Key FOB not detected, and won't let me start it... the FOB has a brand new battery. I have a key on the keychain, but can find the hole for the ignition key! Does one even exist? How do I get the car started?
Open up the glove box and you will see a slot on the left side. Insert the fob facing you into the slot. Then try to start the car. This is the procedure to use if the fob battery is dead.
Open the glove box door and there should be a slot on the left hand side to plug the fob into. See if that will help.
And, there is no keyhole for the ignition, they are all push button-start now. Look where the ignition would normally be just to the right of the steering colunm.
They key is for if you get locked out of the car and the key fob does not work, there is a small hole under the hatch near the license plate. Don't worry about the key itself trying to get the car to start it won;t help.

Buttons on the fob should face the passenger side of the car. This fob in the slot starting procedure will only work if you've got the car battery charged up enough. It is primarily used when the fob battery is low.
Thanks everyone! I will give it a try. I don't have power in the storage unit for a battery tender (hence the problem), but I will pull the battery and put it on a charger. I am glad to here there isn't an actual "key hole" since 2 grown adults and a flashlight couldn't find it. And of course the manual was not in the glove box...go figure.
Hahaha! That doesn't sound good does it? I made sure the car was "ok" to drive from his place in Arizona, to my place in Minnesota. The car is the only legit thing about my brother these days. It's too bad, but I have a fun car to use for the next 3 years!
I don't know if this applies but the car will not start if you are not pressing the clutch (or brake if it is an auto) pedal.
Silly question also, but was the FOB inside the car when you tried to start it? And was it in a pants pocket or somewhere something could block it?
Once you do get it started I would drive it at least every two weeks or be prepared for a dead battery often. Just letting it idle will kill the battery faster than driving it.
Just my take. Since you will be limited on driving the car during a MN winter, and you do not have electricity in the storage shed, why not just pull the battery and keep it on a tender during the winter. Then come spring, you will be good to go. I'm sure others will chime in if it's a bad thing to have the battery out that long.
Once you put the batery back in, you will need to index the windows.
Happened to me last December on my '08. Tried jumping/charging with no luck. Towed to dealer and they said bad battery. Battery replaced. Few days later, same "no fob detected". Towed back to dealer. Spent about a week there and they ended up replacing what they called a "fob detection module".
Warranty papers indicated the part # to be 25882862 with description being "receiver 10.485"
Just in case charging doesn't do it you may want to give the dealer this info.

Its his BROTHERS car....no need for winter storage.
I got the FOB not detected on my 06 when the battery went dead. IMHO, its all about the battery and not the FOB. Maybe not enough power to run the computer and thats the message you get. I also could not use a jump box. You need to charge the battery first (I suggest disconnecting the battery to charge) and then use a battery tender as others suggested. You can get a tender at Sears for ~$25 or order one from a Forum vendor.
