Default C6 Issue

I've traded my C5 for C6 and wonder if anyone knows why the C6 design removed the nice flat spot on the rocker panel where you could put your hand on a solid spot when you got out? Am I the only one that misses that handy feature?

Not sure I'm understanding what you are referring to. I have a pretty sizable flat area on the rocker panel and door jam of my C6 where I am able to put my hand on exit. I don't recall any significant difference over what I have now compared to my C5.

I've owned both and see no difference getting out of the vehicle

If this is the flat spot you use this is what happened on mine. I also used it and it cracked after about four years. This was after around 25,000 miles. I weigh 180 pounds. I replaced it for $80 and don't use it any longer.

No, actually not the trim piece, the black logo decal on the actual rocker panel itself.

Default Flat Spot

Actually on the C5 there is a flat spot south of the plastic piece where the opening starts to curve upwards. There's nothing similar on the C6.

Having never owned a C5 I'm not sure what difference you're referring to. In my C6 I always place the palm of my left hand on the flat, bottom of the door sill to support my body weight when exiting and entering the car. Despite any difference with the C5 it works well for me.

I had a C5 and I know exactly the spot you are talking about, and yes I miss it. Made getting out of the cars much easier plus I think less wear on the seats because of the way it was made.

Thanks MJoy! I was beginning to think I was imagining something. It's funny what small things some people notice and others don't. But we all like the big things: horsepower, styling & the Corvette community!

That was the first thing I noticed when I got in and out of the first C6 that I drove.

I use that ledge on my C5 every time I get out of it. For us older guys it does help.

Ledge is the small flat area on the door jamb just below the black latch plate:
