Default 2011 Paddle Shift Question

When downshifting, using paddle shift, my engine rev's up before it downshifts into 2nd gear. All other gears downshift w/o any rev's. My 2007 Vette did not do this. Anybody else with a 2011 Vette noticing this?

All down shifts should rev first. This is intended to match the engine RPMS's to the speed of the differential to prevent wheel hop and wear.

That is correct. However, if you slow down a lot in one gear before paddling down to the next lower gear, the extra rev is much less.

A great feature, our 2006 had the old-fashioned "lurch to downshift" instead of our 2009 "revmatch to downshift".

I have a 2011 GS w/paddles, does the same. It's 'Rev Matching' and pretty damn cool.

AFAIC, rev-matching downshifts are the best feature on the new Vettes, especially with the fuse pulled on an NPP car..........

My 07 does it. I don't think rev-match shifts are anything new.

Sounds bad-*** with my Borla exhaust.

My 06 doesn't do it automatically, but there is usually enough lag time between the flick of the paddle and the actual downshift that I can rev it myself. It takes some practice and doesn't always work, but if you routinely downshift when coming to a stop, it is probably good practice to try to match revs in order to reduce wear on the driveline components.

why pull the fuse when for less than $90 you can get the Mild-2-Wild NPP remote control that takes about 5 minutes to install... Wild most of the time but on the highway is Mild...

That's something I would like on the manual trans...the only feature that they could take from a Nissan Z.

I can do this going down into 5 th 4th and 3rd but second and first is a biatch when I try this. Like you said the lag time pause in the auto gives you enough space to do a blip yourself. I have a very hard time doing any D/S to second and first.
