Watching B-J auction with Hemi tribute/recreation cars, I got to thinking what the C6 market at auctions like this will be in the future. I see so many wide-body Z06 replicars here (pre-GS, of course) and really wonder what these will be worth vs the original stock Vettes.
Modded cars? Not much unless it is done by someone like Callaway. Even then you are probably going have to wait until about 2035-2045 to see any decent value from a C6. The top sellers will need to have low mileage. Personally I'll just drive the crap out of mine instead.
I think your wide body z06 replicars will be worth little if anything over the genuine base models that they are. Personally, its a waste of money in my opinion, but, its not my money thankfully.
If anything will appreciate i'd think it will be the GT1's and the CSC's and even that is a stretch.
I'm guessing the wide body conversions were done on cars built before the GS became available. A simple check of the VIN to see what model year the car was would answer the question. Easy to spot a fake Z06, as it has a unique VIN and no one is going to go to the trouble of changing out a steel frame for an aluminum frame. A magnet would easily show which frame is under the car.

A big strettttttch, I know where you can buy two new GT1's at $20,000 off MSRP right now.
Are you serious?
Look at the guys who paid $60K for a C4 ZR1 that's now only worth $35K without any miles on it.
they are not old enough yet. 1967 427/435's weren't worth much when they were only 20+- years old either. i bought a 67 38,000 mile 427/435 conv. in 1980 for $2,700. you can buy a low mile C4 ZR1 for less than $35k.
There's still a market for modified cars but I feel a stock, low mileage C6 would possess greater value to a 'purist' collector. Personally, I wouldn't speculate on a car as an investment. I go for the sure thing...I like driving them.

Do you think any C6 will be worth anything in the future? It's a widely mass produced car. Even the ZR-1 won't hold its value.

Just go out and drive the hell out of it like it was meant to be.
It's hard to say...certainly rarity affects value but there are many older, mass produced cars that are considered quite collectible today.
