I have been using hockey pucks (purchased used) since the C5 first came out. I carry a set (4) in one of the rear compartments in our C6 now, when we travel. One set always is available in the garage for those days when I need a little "Corvette therapy"..........
I prefer the rectangular BMW jacking pucks. They're made of hard 'rubber,'
they're beveled so they stay secure on the jack stands and they snap-in securely. I do not recommend leaving them installed 24/7...they're made for a specific purpose...put them in when needed and remove them promptly when finished. When not in use I carry them in the storage cubby. Also, I modified my BMW jacking pucks. I sunk small brass screws partially into the 'locking' pins so they're easier to grasp with a Leatherman Tool or pliers when you remove them.
When I first bought my Vette there was a DIY thread about hockey pucks and a lot of hype about needing them.
Well I made a set, however I have yet to need these things. I have a lot of work done on my car, but the only hands that ever touch it are expert Corvette tuners/mechanics who know what they're doing.
But *just in case* those pucks lie waiting in the cubby hole for that rare event when I just might need them
