I bought one aluminum Puck to try it out and did not like it.. it was too tall with the piece on the bottom and hard to line up etc...

Then I bought two rubber ones, & they seem to be better IMO BOTH will do the same job, but the rubber seems more user friendly, & I just throw them in the cubby hole in the back..

I made a set of 4 with "practice hockey pucks" and eyebolts for about $7.

I prefer the rectangular BMW jacking pucks. They're made of hard 'rubber,'
they're beveled so they stay secure on the jack stands and they snap-in securely. I do not recommend leaving them installed 24/7...they're made for a specific purpose...put them in when needed and remove them promptly when finished. When not in use I carry them in the storage cubby. Also, I modified my BMW jacking pucks. I sunk small brass screws partially into the 'locking' pins so they're easier to grasp with a Leatherman Tool or pliers when you remove them.

Couple of hockey pucks and an eye bolt are $6-7 bucks.

For the few times you'll need to use them, they do exactly what you'll need.

Save your dough for the good stuff . . . .

I prefer the hocky pucks because of the slightly less chance of slipping. They also provide no chance of a pressure point denting or scratching the frame.

I use the BMW pucks also but leave em on the car. They fit and snap in place like they were made for Corvette. They're always on so I dont have to give em a second thought. Cant see them unless you practically lay down.

Depending on your jack, the thinner hockey puck style may be your only choice. It doesn't matter if you have an Omega/Blackhawk 29023 floor jack since its jacking foot is low enough (2-1/2") to clear even the thickest aluminum pucks. Other jacks may not.

I have the recangular BMW pads. I used to leave them on the car, but had one fall off, so now I leave them in the rear compartment for use when I need them.

I seem to be in the minority here. I prefer the aluminum as they stand up to repeated use better, in my experience. I would lift maybe 4-5 Corvettes daily, on average. The rubber ones would separate from the steel backing eventually. But, I am talking 400-500 uses maybe more.

Jack.

Maybe you didn't put that one in correctly. Mine have been in over 4 years and w/o the screw mod Wayne O did they're hard to remove?

new C6 owner here...
the guys at the shop that i use said that before jacking up the car i should crack open the doors/hood/trunk because of the flex inherent in the car. Is this for real, or are they not corvette savvy?

I have the aluminum ones. The rubber ones are too wide to fit in the cradle of my jackstand. Also, there is no way the aluminum puck will sag into the cradle either. Check your jackstands to see what will work best with them.

This used to be standard practice for the C4 and older 'vettes. I found it not to be needed on C5/C6.
