Really, is this a fact? Lord knows they are not responsive at all otherwise, I need to try this...
I get better paddle shifts in the default standard mode.
My question exactly. It happened to me at the strip. In competition mode, on my 2007 C6 I made the 1 to 2 power shift and the car swerved violently. No time to recover.
Does anyone have more info or experience? I wonder if this issue is something to take up with GM.

Traction Control System (TCS):
This limits rear wheel spin by reducing engine power and applying the rear brakes when wheel spin is detected.
Active Handling (AH):
Helps maintain directional control by selectively applying any one of the 4 brakes when a skid is detected.
______________________________________
There are 4 separate modes:
1.. Traction Control - On............ Active Handling - On
(Engages when the car is started)
This is the default mode.
This is recommended for normal driving.
2.. Traction Control - Off............Active Handling - On
(Engage with 1 push of the button)
Turning off TCS allows the rear wheels to spin, but alows the Active Handling to assist in skid contol.
This is recommended for drag racing.
3.. Traction Control - Off............Active Handling - Reduced Input
(Engage with 2 pushes of the button)
This is the Competitive Driving Mode which allows the rear wheels to spin, while reducing some of the input that Active Handling has on the brake system.
This is recommended for road racing.
4.. Traction Control - Off............Active Handling - Off
(Engage by holding button for 5 sec.)
This may be used when the driver does not want any on-board sensor input that may effect power reduction or brake application.
No rear wheel spin or vehicle skid corrections are applied.
Note: The Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) is always on and is unaffected by the various Traction Control or Active Handling selections above.
.
On the ZR1 they open at 3,000 regardless of AH mode.
I run Comp mode on roadcourse tracks at HPDE's, but there's absolutely no reason I would ever need to run Comp or AH completely off when driving on the street.
On the track, hopefully you'll get a "debris on the track" flag from the corner workers if somebody puts a couple wheels off and gets dirt/gravel on the track, or if somebody drops a load of oil or coolant on the track.
On the highway you never know when you might hit a bunch of sand or gravel that dripped out of a dump truck, or a puddle of some kind of fluid in the middle of your high-speed sweeper off ramp.
I might turn off TC occasionally, but I like AH full on for street driving.
