I have a 4-month old '10 Torch Red Grand Sport w/cashmere interior.
I wear jeans alot and have noticed that my driver seat now looks like it's picking up the blue dye from the jeans. Has anyone else had this same problem? I took it to the dealer this morning. And the service writer said that it's a management decision if they will replace it or not. There wasn't a service mgr on duty since I was there on a Saturday morning. I don't have a good feeling about this. I'm pretty sure they will do their best to wiggle their way out of replacing the seat cover.
I have Cashmere in my 05 and have not had any issues like you state above. Are these new jeans or have them been washed before? I imagine new jeans might have some leftover dye but worn jeans shouldnt transfer anything
This SAME thing happened to me. I had a (new-parted with to buy my Z06) 2009 Vert w/Z51 that had cashmere interior. The blue dye from my jeans DID wear onto the leather seats. You CAN remove it by cleaning it with a GOOD leather cleaner. I did. This even happens with my ('10) Z06 which has rpo red interior. (it;s only 40% red however-ebony rest). I try not to drive my Vette wearing jeans but does happen. I do NOT worry about it any more. I have told myself I will clean it at the begining of this summer and again at end if summer. I do NOT wear jeans alot in summer anyway. But....it WILL clean off. I did in my vert (only had it 9 months) once and agin just before I parted with it.
Yes, same problem here. It will continue to happen as long as you wear newer jeans. Wear faded jeans and the problem will not happen or be as bad. No need to replace the seat cover as it will happen again.
I had the issue with my Titanium seat in my vert after barely 2 months. Faded jeans, washed many times, still transferred blue to the seat bottom outside bolster. Tried Zaino leather cleaner, took out some but not all, still looked faint blue. Had to have it professionally cleaned/stripped and re-coated. I haven't worn jeans in the car since then.
Most denim jeans are made with indigo dye.
It is a natural dye that is NOT colorfast and it will migrate.
If you wore very faded jeans or maybe a pair of jeans washed 50+ times, I would guess that you'd see less migration of the indigo.
Most leather cleaners will get rid of the blue color.
At worst, if you must wear dark jeans get a seat cover.
Good Luck!

I would not expect them to cover this via warranty. You stained the seats. How is that a GM warranty issue? If they do cover it, buy the service writer a bottle of his favorite what ever because he would be doing you a big favor!
In the future try treating the leather with Lexol conditioner regularly. Then use Lexol cleaner as needed followed by another round of conditioner. This seems to work well for the same thing on my Cashmere seats.

My wife has a mercedes with tan interior
she had the same problem
however see cleaned it off with small amount of car wax on a damp cloth and wiped it down right after
I'm not sure what this is going to do to the leather
She did the sides and stopped when she noticed wax was going into the perf seats
neverthe less the stains are gone.....for now
Happened in my '97 with the grey interior and my '07 with cashmere ... Lexol cleaner takes it right off and it looks good-as-new. Certainly not a GM/dealer issue ..
As someone already stated, its the dye in the jeans transferring to the seat. I wear black jeans all the time and find myself cleaning the seat once a month at least or every time I wash the car.
This is a $60K car. If it were a Chevy Aveo I would just deal with it.
Hey bro....I'm just trying to look out for ya so you will not get dissapointed tomorrow....this does happen and it WILL clean off. However, I would let the weather warm up before I did....I don't want to read your post tomorrow saying something like "your really let down because the service manager refused to give ya new seat covers".....IMHO, ya really don't need them because a simple cleaning is the fix here.....I'd rather you be a fellow Vette owner whose HAPPY with his Vette....I'm very afraid you getting yourself set-up for disappointment here....
FWIW-mine stickered for near $84,000.00 bucks and I'm OKay with this....my Vert was a lil less granted but this, IMO, is'nt something to get uptight about....anyway....I'm not here to argue with ya....just want you to be a fellow Vette brother whose happy is all here....peace
