After 6 years my original battery is giving up. I have a 2005 coupe. The terminals have a threaded stud with a metric nut holding a small metal plate. The plate holds the two side of the terminal together. On the non stud terminal end there is a bent over tab from the terminal through this small plate. It would appear that this tab has to be straightened to remove the terminal. Before doing so, I wanted to check this great brain trust of information to confirm this prior to proceeding. Thank you all in advance
Just loosen the nut on top. Don't take it all the way off. Just loosen it and the terminal will come off with a twist or two. You don't need to do anything with that tab thing.

Excellent advice!
Some folks remove that cone-shaped nut and lose it. Unfortunately it's a unique item that's not available separately... you have to buy the whole cable assembly -- something like $190.

Just replaced mine after six years also. Very easy to do. Make sure you get the correct battery for an '05', an '06' and newer will not fit. The terminals were reversed after '05'. I put another AC Delco back into mine ($106). Why not, when we got that much time from the original one.
