So I have a weed up my a@@ this morning to put some mufflers on my 2008 mn6 without npp . I like flowmasters but I just got off the phone with midas . The guy sounded like he has done a few vettes and recommended magnaflows . $280 for the mufflers , $95 install and he recommends not using the stock tips because they will restrict the flow . I kind of like sticking with the stock tips . Please chime in . Thanks , Chris
Sounds like a good price to me, reasonable install cost.
What do the tips look like on the magnaflows? if you don't like them you will kick yourself everytime you wash the car.

Sounds like a great deal. The cheaper mufflers like Flowmasters, Magnaflows, and whatever the "base" brands the muffler shops use tend to rust out in a few years though. Thats why they are so cheap. The sound is ok but I dont think the cheaper mufflers sound as good as the more expensive mufflers such as the Borlas, Corsa's, BB, etc. Good luck with your choice.
I would not bring a CORVETTE to a chain MUFFLER shop
Find a custom shop that deals with handling high end vehicles your rocker panels will thank you for it.
tip- If a muffler guy is trying to talk you out of what you want and directing you to something else it means hes gonna put more money in his pocket by selling you magnas. Same with the tips, he makes more $ selling you additional crap you dont need. Run, dont walk away.

If the force directs you back to NPP I have a set sitting in Orlando. Guy in Melboune was suppose to pick them up. They are more expensive but as the saying goes you get what you pay for.
Thanks guys . I ended up buying a set of flowmasters off of ebay with the single polished tip for $383 delivered to my door . I will have them installed at a small muffler shop by my job . I will post when complete .

I was about to say, look for the exhaust online and then take the car to a local shop to have it installed. Thats what I did with my borla stingers, and couldnt be any happier!
I hope drone doesn't bother you...When I got flowmasters I loved them, then the drone really started to get to me, I could control it to an extent with the paddles and lived with it. Then it got to the point it just annoyed me.....
Switched to Corsas and haven't looked back...

I know price isn't always indicative of quality but the old adage is generally valid...."you'll get what you pay for." With the amount of condensation that pours out of the exhaust pipes, tips and muffler cans these mufflers just won't hold-up. The durability, sound and drone-free performance of a quality exhaust will last long after the 'happiness' of buying a cheap exhaust as worn off.

I have had flowmasters on other vehicles and they have held up rather well . I just don't see them rusting away in three years but only time will tell .

I have the flowmaster American thunder on my coupe now. It's a great exhaust minus the drone especially when the car is getting warmed up. Good exhaust for the money though. I'm looking to upgrade to npp so I can shut it up when on a longer trip though. As far as wear is concerned I've had mine for about a year now and while my car is garage kept I have seen no moisture or condensation of any kind. Exhaust still looks and performs like new. Enjoy!!!

BTW , thanks for everyones input . There are some great people on this forum who give thoughtful and smart responses to questions that I ask . This forum has changed much over the years . Seems like alot of personal and non related vette stuff is par for the course . I don't really care for it but oh well , I think the good far outweighs the bad . Chris

If they are steering you away from what you want, move on to another shop it is not worth the hassle and you might regret it later. I had a flowmaster thunder kit (3 year warranty) installed by Midas and am very happy with the sound...but they did not steer me away from what I wanted.
It doesn't seem like the tips would restrict flow unless they are smaller than the pipe that feeds them. I like the stock tips. They polish up so nicely!!!
