I have been dreaming for about 10 years now about purchasing a 50th Anniversary Corvette. I believe this is the first car in history to ever make it this long and with a heritage and following like that, this is what they offer for a milestone, 50 years?
Which reminds me, haven't I already seen this car before? Oh yeah, how original.
 The complaints about the 50 Anniversary are getting boring.
Question : What were you expecting ?????
I truly believe that the 50th is capturing the spirit and popularity of the current Corvette...
I have read many threads that have had nothing but very positive things to say about the C5 and now some people seem to be complaining about that same car in a 50th Anniversary Edition...
So please ... stop whining and if you must post, state exactly what you were anticipating instead of bashing the car and all those who helped develop it..
I like many of you have not seen the car in person ... however... i like it... and believe it to be tastefully executed.
I do like the car, for a Corvette, not the 50th Anniversary model. I would have like to have seen something like this. Maybe not to this extreme but at least some different body work that would say, "I'm special. I've been around longer than anybody!" It looks like they just remembered that it has been here for 49 years already and quickly put someone on the project 6 months ago. I think they should have been working on it 6 years ago. This type of milestone doesn't come around very often, I mean look at Ford, they are producing the GT40 to commemerate 100 years and Cadillac the same with the Cien. What does the Corvette get, something that I feel should get more fanfare, since it is easier to have a company around for 50 years or so compared to one product, a redesigned 40th Anniversary car? Come on, at least have it in the original colors or maybe a shade of Gold. I am the only person that thinks that 50 years is quite an accomplishment?
Hey blondie, do you work at Chevrolet? I just noticed that you live in Michigan and you are an engineer. Just curious. Hey maybe they should have offered my design for the 50th Anniversary.
I personally am not totally disapointed in the 50th. I dont know what everyone expected it to be,It's still a C5! I would have liked to seen the 427 as a option, thats the only way I would have purchased one myself... But I'm still hoping they will do that as a late realease, wishfull thinking...
Big fat what-ever. If I want to voice my opinion, I'll do it. I don't like it. It doesn't even inspire me enough to go down to a showroom and look at one. Forget about buying one.
I wanted this or similar.
1. All should be convertibles, and only make 1,953 of them.
2. Bright white exterior with gold metallic flakes in the paint. Not a lot of flakes, just enough to make it noticeable in good light.
3. All red interior, like the tan interior in the 50th, just red. Gold/Tan colored top.
4. At least a LS6, preferably with 425 hp.
5. All 6-speeds.
6. Gold metallic fuel rail covers that have the 50th logo.
7. 50th logo on the gauges, like the Z06.
8. 50th logo on the fiberglass piece in between the seats.
9. Chrome five-spoke wheels.
10. All should have an extra documentation package that contains reproductions of the press releases and misc magazine ads as well as a brief summary of what was special about each year for all 50 years of production.

It may be the first car, I am not sure. The Suburban is over 50 also.

It is tasteful (sort of) for a regular C5, but we wanted MORE, we wanted something SPECIAL. It's 50 years for God's sake! We wanted something that stands out and shouts 50th Anniversary. This car will just blend in with the rest of the C5's.
How can one have respect for those that developed it, what sort of thought went into this? Give me a break, there have got to be more creative people working for GM than what this car turned out to be.
I'm here to say, it's an attractive regular C5, BUT it is in no way a reflection of what the 50th Anniversary Corvette should have been.
If you had anything to do with the deveopment of this car, you should be ashamed. :nono:
yea, i'm disappointed in the new 50th. they coulda done a way better job. I like what everyone is talking though, with the White on red interior with possible gold flakes in paint, or a nice gold pinstripe woulda been cool 2.
Na, the 100th will be hmmmm, let's do something original, maybe white exterior, white interior, white wheels, and white everything else, yeah that is what we will do for the 100th anniversary. Oh yeah can't forget the $2 100th stickers.
we all wanted something more special as far as looks and engine options go, i still cant figure out why they made it red, the 40th was red, they could have found a better color. For 50 years, they could have done better. It looks like the C6's rumored problems have really hurt this model, as we hoped they would share a few components.
How would that celibrate the 50th year of production?
The first Corvettes had Powerglides not 6 speeds.
They had Blue Flame 6's not LS6's.
And since when are Anniversary models that different from EVERY OTHER CAR MADE THAT YEAR? In '78? Or '93? Nope just paint, stickers and seat stiching. The C5 is a great car. No need to reinvent it for a Anniversary Model. Just a C3 guy's .02. :D
Who would have thought that the 50th anniversary Corvette would hit showrooms putting out less HP than the damn 2003 Mustang Cobra.
Why didn't GM at least put the LS6 in it? Oh, I know why... because GM lacks testicular fortitude and unfortunately there are enough idiots out there that will pay the premium $$$ for this.

I think the anniversary edition should represent the pinnacle in Corvette technology and performance, with styling clues that date back to the original. Of course you can't put a Blue Flame in a C5, but you can easily put an LS6 to make it have more hp that a stinkin' Mustang Cobra. Putting a LS6 in a convertible is hardly reinventing it. Nothing I listed would be hard for GM to do.

Great idea. We have done nothing special so far, so why not keep it that way. Attitudes like this are why we ended up with this sad tribute to 50 years of greatness. Read this aloud to yourself: "The Mustang Cobra will have more horsepower and torque than the 50th Anniversary Corvette." If that doesn't make you feel bad, then something is wrong. Maybe you were their target customer.
