is the battery dead or there is still a chance of starting it?
what is the best way?

it should have started with cables. If the battery is shorted out, it will not start with cables. Put in a battery tender and see if it will charge.

Probably not enough juice for the car to detect the fob. Very common when the battery is weak/dead.
Yes, there's a chance it will start. But I bet the battery will need to be charged before it will jump-start.
I had a dead battery in a rental Toyota... it took about a half-hour of charging before it had enough juice to jump-start.
But you might just go ahead and buy a new battery... once the OEM battery dies, it never fully recovers.
Anyway, it's pretty easy to replace the battery. Just make sure it's well-charged. And be sure you don't lose that special cone-shaped nut on the terminal clamp.
