Default Notes on a new flowmaster cat back system

had them installed this morning. GREAT SOUND!!!...I researched this system (american thunder series) for a couple of weeks (you tube, CF posts, etc) wanted to take a chance, I heard all about drone and this and that. Saw a whole lotta pros and cons. They sound better than expected, I have an '05, Z51 optioned coupe with the 3.15 performance axle and the A4 tranny. sound is AWSOME, there is a small amount of drone(if you can call it that) on take off only, WOT= pure muscle car. I was a little worried about the "drone" and was prepared to just have them taken off and go with the Borla or B&B, Hell.. for 550.00 installed you cant go wrong, it was well worth the gamble. drove around most of the day, top in and top out, there is a nice burbble at idle and cruise does not seem to drone at all. I was suprised after reading posts about the drone with an A4 auto, hardly noticeable if at all. WOT throttle is not as loud as expected (from in the cabin) everyone else knows your getting on it. Overall great system!! will try to post some video/sound in the future. I had to change my shirt when I got home, drooled all over myself..

I dont get everyone complaining about drone on here... they all said the same about Magnaflow systems, but just got them installed on my car... no drone, just good ole' rumble!
The other system I was looking at was the Flowmasters... Hope you enjoy them!

I love my Flowmaster axle-back also. They are a great bang for the buck system and perform as good as the systems the cost over twice as much. I had mine set in the garage waiting to get installed even before my 08 Z51 had gotten delivered. Here's a clip of how they sound before and after my TSP header install.

I have the American Thunder Series with a Corsa X pipe.
What little drone I've noticed is easily over-come by a stab at
the 'loud' pedal or turning up the sound system.

Sometimes I hunt for the RPM where it does drone when my wife is
in the car. Keeps her conversational abilities at bay.

heres the skinny...Flowmaster american thunder series, FLO-17427, these have the dual tips per muffler, I did not like the series that only had one tip per muffler. The tips are a little larger than the stock tips and look just fine. Been driving around today, stopped to get gas a guy came over and said "dam thats the best soundin vette I have heard in a long time....a few hours later at a stop light a group of 20 somethings motioned me to put down my window they all said "dude your car sounds badass!! I left the top in all day today and heres my observations...at take off (light throttle) very mild drone, med throttle mid range drone, (if you can call it that) , at WOT no drone really, just pure flowmaster deep rumble. At 55mph, about 1500 rpm no drone at all. when letting off the throttle they have a nice burbble sound, still very satisfied and that really is all that matters plus I saved a enough money to get some other goodies that I want

Ditto here, got a Magnapack installed at Carlisle last August, LOVE IT! Yes, some drone but I am insulating cabin floor under carpet and think all will be perfect after that. ENJOY!
