Default Need some advice

Hello all..............

I need some good advice. I am trying to get into my first corvette

Went to dealer today and test drove 2 cars

2011 Black Convertible

2011 Black Coupe

Both of them were fully loaded 3LT's with dual mode exhaust/chrome alum rims/automatic

The convertible had the magnetic selective ride option

I drove both (amazing)

They are NOT grand sport models.....

Here is the "deal"

The coupe is stickered for $60,000 selling it to me for $50,000

The Convertible is stickered for $70,000 selling it to me for $59,000

Are these good deals?

Which one should i go for?

These prices include rebates, so im lookin at a 4.9 intrest rate for 72 month financing option

All/any input would be greatly appreciated----------

Hi Silver,
These are both very different cars. The biggie being convertible or coupe.
This is purely a choice you have to make, kinda like a brunette or blond, both are fun to ride but you have to choose one.
While I would strongly recommend getting into a 2010 with super low miles, maybe even a Z06, the choice is yours.
My .02, go drive a Z06 with 5,000 miles on it. You will have a real supercar for less money.

Do you have a trade in?

If this is a straight out purchase then price the 2 cars out with some of our Forum dealers. Chances are they can give you an even better deal.

The deal you have on the table isn't bad.

I live 60 miles from Kerbeck and had my local dealer discount their cars like Kerbeck

Im not looking for a usd vette, and to be honest the prices on the cars i mentioned are bit of a stretch on my budget....

I have always wanted the Black Vert, BUT for some reason the Coupe felt better to me

Also i like the fact that the coupe has some rear room behind your head as opposed to the Vert (but that windfall on vert is gorgeous)

IDK guys-----always wanted the vert but to get almost same car with same options AND the coupes top can be removed (basically like a vert) and for $10,000 less? THATS A BIG DIFFERENCE

Man these cars are sick!

Just a little punch of the gas pedal and they ROARED like a beast!

Oh get this

They also had a 2010 leftover 2LT vert, Blue with stick shift and chrome wheels (no dual exhaust) stickered for $61,000 hey wll sell it to me for the price of the loaded 2011 coupe ($50,000)

How is the coupes top? this car is not coming with the clear see thru top----are there any coupe owners out there with complaints about the top? is it a bitch to take on, and off? does it rattle, leak?

NO TRADE IN

OK no trade, e-mail Tom Jr at MacMulkin Chevrolet. Give him the options you want and let him go to work. With the money you save you can probably do a museum delivery. Just think, the weather will be nice and warm by the time you take delivery.

Did you say if new or used? Let's hope they are new.

Anyways, I would click 'Buy a vette' in the red banner on top. give them a chance to provide you with a great CF price. They sponsor the forum after all and there is no BS to be had. Pick up the car in BG, tour the plant while there, or, have it delivered to your dealer of choice.

I bet they can do better. Much better. Tell em I sent you.

Interest rate seems high. Is gm no offering 0% for 72 months? Maybe not on 2011 models.

I have both tops, but I think the vette looks better with the body color roof. Very easy to remove and install.

I have not driven the convertible and I am sure it is amazing. The coupe does allow the open top experience, just not to the same degree as the vert. However, the coupe has a very usable and functional hatch area.

The black Vert F55 Magnetic Adjustible Suspension might have had the selector switch set to "Sport" rather than "Tour", thus providing a rougher ride than the coupe base suspension. Set to "Tour" it should have provided a less harsh, more controlled ride than the coupe base suspension.
Black looks great on the showroom floor, but of course is a total pain to keep looking sharp.
The coupe with the top off gives a lot of buffeting, try it before buying it if you intend to drive it with the top off. The coupe tops are also somewhat prone to being noisier than the convertible, but the coupe does provide twice the luggage room, and many think it looks better than the vert wiith its top up, plus their are less security and maintenance issues. Many prefer the looks of the transparent top on the coupe because it blends with the rest of the glass, plus you can look through it. You can get an aftermarket windfall to instal in the coupe if you want.
The dual mode exhaust isn't as impressive as on an automatic transmission car as it is on a manual, but on the other hand a manual transmission car without the dual mode exhaust doesn't sound like a sports car even though it drives like one. Why not order a new manual transmission car with the dual mode (NPP) option and have the best of both worlds? You could save money by not getting the 3LT gadgets, the automatic transmission, nor the chrome wheels.

I would also check the jeffhardy.com website for available new unsold 2010 inventory...there are still a lot of them available.

you might be able to save another $5K on top of your best deal on a 2011...?

I wanna thank all for their input it is greatly appreciated

I have had 4 black mustangs past several years and think black is beyond sexy! yeah it requires upkeep, but when its washed and zaino'd up, NOTHING looks nicer IMO

The deals i posted are all new 2011's and the prices im getting them for are with the cash rebates, so bc of that Im forfeiting the availble 0 % intrest rate incentive (cant have both)

That was one of my big concern is the coupes removable roof rattling.....last thing anybody wants is a $60,000+ vehicle being a rattle trap

I actually love the look of the vert with top up and obviously down as well. Only thing with the convertible there is a trunk that i can put an aftermarket subwoofer and amp in. Cant do tht with the coupe unless i know its not going to rain and leave the top in the garage for a short trip.

I also like the fact that there is more room in the cabin with the coupe due to hatch, no room at all with vert

I have had multiple Mustang verts in past as well as coupes/manuals (mach 1/cobras)

Im kind of tired of manual shifting and prefer the Auto, also to me the Chrome wheels and Dual Mode exhasu is a must UNLESS aftermaret Magnaflows cat back sound as good if not better (put them on my 2008 Mustang convertible and they sounded AWESOME) What are your thoughts inregards to the NPP vs Magnaflow catbacks? which sounds better?

The corvette has been my dream car since 1999 but it just never has worked out for me. If im going to purchase a Vette, I refuse to "settle" on a car. Im gonna get what i want in the exact color/trim i want (will be my first vette and intend on keeping it for the life of loan. Money is an obstacle so im trying my hardest to get the best deal, especially now before the spring/summer comes. Better deals in my area occur in the winter (NY TRI STATE)

Great deals occur all year long with Tommy Jr. and MacMulkin Chevrolet. You would be doing yourself a disservice if you didn't give him an opportunity to quote you. He will order anything you want.
