What do you guys think about a reverse sensing system? Where I am I back into my garage and have lots of little kids in a townhome complex and toys that they can leave behind. And lets face it, the rear view visibility is just not that good. Seems like everyone else has one, they cannot be that expensive for GM to put on.
I know the whole idea of a Vette is going forward in a very rapid manner, but we all have to back up some time.
Anybody ever back into something that a warning system would have helped? Curious what your guys thoughts are.

That's a expensive custom job on Corvette.
Ford Mustang already has that as an option.
There are members on here who have cams front and back. This would be very ideal for those times that you MUST park inbetween two cars. Some use the rear cameras as an addition to the rearview mirror to view while they are driving.
I would think that the sensors without cameras like the Yukon SUV and others have, that beep and intensify as you get closer to an object would be a welcome feature. I do not see it as being too expensive either.

I know Mustang has a rear view camera as an option, I am even just thinking of the sensors that could give you an audible warning if there is something behind you BEFORE you hit it. Seems like lots of cars have those now, cannot be that expensive???

Cadillac has these parking sensors as an option.
I had an estimate to have a system done on my car and minimum was around $600 to the average of $1,000
I just checked out of curiosity, the Mustang has a rear sensing system as part of a "Security Package" for $695. Plus if you have the navigation system you can get a rear camera for an additional $240.
I do not believe GM could not incorporate something that would not be that expensive.

Isn't there an option of using the rear view mirror on the Mustang to use viewing cam for rear?

Go to your nearest Ford dealer. Test drive a Taurus and checkout their system. It's fantastic. I can't begin to describe it. It should be included in all cars.
I know you can install a rear camera rather inexpensively through the rear licence plate power - it comes with a small monitor for your dash which has a receiver to get the signal from the camera unit.
I'd like to see a rear view on my center console nav display. The C6 Coupe has terrible rear view visability. I drove a Buick Regal renta-car that had the backup video camera. I really liked it. I'd like one for my Corvette.
My 2011 Silverado has the camera and sensors. Camera is clear but it is not any good to judge distance with. Sensors work OK but the object has to be something like 18 inches tall for it to see it. Camera only works in reverse.
