Dealer fees

Dealer fees are an interesting subject. They are a BS "added profit fee". However, according to state law (in Florida), you cannot pick and choose who to charge this fee and who not to. Even the CEO of the company buying a car would have to pay it.
With the deal I just made, I got the price reduced by the dealer fee amount and then it had to be added back on the invoice. This is mandated by law. Now, they dont HAVE to charge a dealer fee, but it cannot be not charged on one customer and charged on another. The fines for that are steep.
If you are negotiating, make them take the price down by the $399 dealer feem but they will add it back on the invoice.
Although I absolutely loved my 05 LMB/GRAY 1SB Z51 when I had it,I have to say 06 because of the tranny and the rear end!!Yes,the 05's have a weaker rear for some reason.Newer is newer, can't beat that!
Don't be easily impressed with the looks of the car - do your research.
I am from Toronto, Canada. Last May 2010 - I saw a 2005 - C6 in Dallas Texas. I did my homework that day - next day, I was on a flight from Toronto to Dallas was a wad of cash. I bought my corvette the same day - drove it back to Toronto immediately, and have not had a day of regeret since.
Well, I picked the yellow 2006, but I held off on pulling the trigger. I am having trouble finding a decent beater. I don't want to buy the Vette then be screwed without a beater come winter. I have looked at anything from your typical Honda to Continentals, Grand Marquis, 4x4 Blazers, Broncos, etc. Overpriced and/or garbage. I'm looking in the sub $5k range. Some may say I am being too picky, but I don't want a $ pit. One Blazer was $5,500 and it needed head gasket, vc gasket, brakes, tires & intake gasket. LOL!
Looks like I'll end up looking for a 335xi and just continuing the C6 fund and pay cash for one a ways down the road. Almost bought a 335xi last weekend, but the dealer would not remove their bs $398 "doc fee" so I walked.
