There are advantages/disadvantages to both types. From what I remember, tighter tolerances and oil control are attainable with the hyper pistons. Remember, GM is building a supercar that can go 100,000 miles with the same reliability as their everyday commuter cars. I don't think the Viper is build for the same purpose.

I owned a 2006 Viper and the Vette is much easier to use as a daily driver. The Viper was a weird, hot and uncomfortable car. It followed every groove in the highway it found. The V10 sounded like a 62 falcon 200 six after the muffler fell of. I would drive it for 20 minutes and take it home. It was work not fun. And i'm use to military jets so I'm hard to annoy. The SOB was fast though. An easy 70+ in first gear. You ran the freeway in 3rd. It was a very strange car. Got more attention than the vette by a mile.
