The advance warning on the HUD varies with speed as do the audio warnings.
And for the OP, you did know before replacing the NAV that the factory NAV also allows you to enter destinations while moving? Yes, you have to preprogram most of them but you can select from about 100 destinations (as I recall). You can always select nearest hospitals, police, and dealers while moving.
But I also agree that the ability to set a destination while moving is overrated. You're driving down the interstate and suddenly decide you want to go to a different state than you had planned? If I decide to change plans in mid-trip, I don't think stopping would be such a big inconvenience. It is far more likely that I would suddenly decide that I wanted to stop at a Chinese restaurant so where is the closest one. That information can always be done while moving using the POIs.
The main thing I like entering destinations on the move for is to find gas stations/restaurants. I wouldn't use it to type in a whole address or find a location on the map. I know the stock NAV does it also but it is not as easy to deal with as a whole unit and it doesn't offer a traffic feature. Garmin based units are so easy to use.
..but my issues are that more than half the time the iphone doesnt auto connect. my guess is due to the time it takes to boot the thing up, if im already moving down the road the bluetooth stuff doesnt search if its in drive.
I have the same problem with both the 6140 in my vette and the 6160 in my Jetta. My work Blackbery connects every time but 60% of the time my iPhone will not auto connect. I think this is an iPhone issue and not a Kenwood issue. I finally gave up and just do all my calling from my work Blackberry now.
Dealership will claim something doesn't work because you have a non OEM decal on the car...
Could happen, haven't heard of it yet.
But there was an actual thread here recently where the car was having an intermittant electrical problem and the dealer said it was cuased by the aftermarket nav/radio setup.
That wouldn't be enough to keep me from installing an aftermarket nav if I really wanted one, but it's something to be aware of.
