Default Climate Control ***** Too Sensitive

We had a 2006 3LT with the dual zone climate control, and the detents on the temperature ***** were too "soft"- when trying to change the temp by 1 degree, I would usually end up changing it by 3 or 4 degrees. I worked around that problem by resting my arm and using two fingers, on opposite sides of the ****.

The 2006 was replaced by a 2009, and the ***** are even easier to move too much. Yeah, I can get by with my "two fingers" method, but it's a PITA and takes my eyes off the road for a moment.

Is there an easy way to make the detents more positive, so it takes more effort to turn the ****? The volume control for the radio works well for me, so I know that it can be done.

My dealership is very helpful, and would probably replace the climate head unit if I complain, but the new head would probably be about like the current one.

Any suggestions?

I agree with you, but I think we have to live with it. If the dealer replaced the AC control, it would be debited back as NTF.

I'm wondering if we can remove the **** and put something on that shaft that increases the friction, like a small O-ring. That wouldn't make the detents any better, but might still help the situation.

If you could actually take the switch apart, the detent spring could be tightened...probably alot of work for a small thing...

You guys are looking for an "about" or "smidge" button.

"Are you cold honey? I will turn it up a smidge"

it is located next to the EASY button
