Oh hell yes! Those stock pig iron rods are flat useless. They simply have no "spring" in them and once you take off the mirror they won't work again. I snapped the mirror on and the wiggle was gone immediately.
Be very careful buying a used mirror, they suffer from the same problem you are trying to eliminate. Put a drop of glue on it. Not the best solution, but it works.

Get the stainless steel pins and fix the issue with the ability to take the mirror off and put it on as many times as you need.

Well, you can re-straighten the pins as many times as you like and then you can put up with the vibrating mirror annually or you can get the stainless steel spring pins from Greg and be done with the whole mess. I straightened them twice and the mirror kept vibrating. Screw that....
