What year C6 is the best year to buy? Is there any year I should avoid?

I shopped 06 through 08. Not sure about 09s as was more money then I wanted to put out. Was told those three year models were basically the same car. Then I shopped price. I ended up with a 06 3LT vert with 19,000 miles with a clean car fax and a set of new Firestone run flats in the price range I wanted.

I bought a very nice used '05 which runs very strong for a lot less. Don't let some of these guys scare you away from the '05. They're good cars.

Nothing wrong with 05's, but if going auto tranny, think I would at least hold out for an 06' for the more advanced A6 over the out going A4.

I just sold one of my toys and I am looking to put 20k down on a C6 and finance the rest, what year offers the best deal for the money? I plan on running the car at the track from time to time also, 1/8 mile

If your going to track it the Z06 introduced as a 2006 model is the way to go, unless of course you can afford a ZR1 introduced as a 2009 model.

Well '05s have the "weak" diff, lots of guys put C5 diffs in them, but there are some '05 drag racers with many passes and no problems.

Lots of year-to-year improvements...
-- 06 to 08: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/1563694469-post5.html
-- 08 to 10: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-c...to-2010-a.html

So, in general, get the newest C6 you can afford.

Probably find best prices on the 05. But it had some first year issues, including a weak rear diff, so it wouldn't be my first choice for a track car. 05 auto tranny is a 4-speed. The 6-speed manual has the dreaded column lock.

IMO the best value is 06/07 with the 400hp LS2. Auto tranny is a 6-speed paddle shift.

The 08 and newer C6 has the 430hp LS3 (436hp with optional NPP exhaust). But production totals for 09/10 are so low, probably difficult to find one.

Enjoy your search!

The best deal is the 2008-09 Vette with Z51, 436hp, starting prices for a low mileage one are about 32k and up IMHO.

Sorry! I have a C4 and I race it all the time but I don't know much about the C6. I listed my race boat for sale because I just moved into a new house and I do not have a shop built yet, I did not figure it would sell this quick but it did. I made up my mind if I sold the boat I would spend a portion of the money on a C6 and a normal boat. Now I need to start shopping for the car and I knew the quickest way to get on the right track was to ask an open question on the site.

I avoided the 05 cause I did'nt want the expense of replacing the rear end. I knew I'd take it to the strip and when the rear end goes it sometimes takes out the tranny main shaft. Wound up with a 07 with 3 years of powertrain warrenty. I love the car but the a6 sucks. I would go with a 08 or newer. Also there are some great buys on 08 right now!
