Just asking in general, is the C6 trunk space much bigger than the C5Z trunk space? Since I want the car for long distances, I need to be able to put enough luggage for 2 people for a 1-2 week vacation. I don't need lots of space, but the GF always brings lots of stuff...
Looking at the numbers, the C6 trunk is larger than the C5Z. But since the additional space comes mostly from additional height toward the rear, it isn't so easy to use.
I'd consider them similar in "real world" capacity.
I recently did a one week vacation with my buddy and EVERYTHING fit in the back of my C6 with ease. I'm talking suitcases, laptop bags, car wash bucket, tools, helmet, two small coolers, etc. We even picked up two fold-up chairs from Wal-Mart half way through and those still fit.

I found the C5 trunk to be taller and was able to put taller items in the trunk than the C6.
The floor space may be the same. The cubbies are larger on the C5.
My c5 convertable without power top definitely was larger than my c6 vert with power top. Drove the c5 out of state to pick up the c6 and had to leave some stuff there.
So far, we have no agreement! :P I should have specified that this is for the coupe, not the convertibles. I thought since the C6 is more of a 'hatch back' compared to the C5Z flat trunk lid, you would have much more space... Guess I'm wrong.
..... but I did take a trip to Miami with a young lady. Her TWO suitcases, my one suitcase, one cooler, wash bucket again, and all the "purchased" items from Miami made it back to GA in the back of my C6.

According to the Internet:
C6 Coupe 22 cubic feet
C5Z 13 cubic feet
That sounds too small for the C5Z, but the 'net is never wrong...

I don't figure it matters how much it will hold. It's more a matter of how much will stay there when I slam on the brakes or hit something. I don't trust the luggage space in my C6. When I travel alone my luggage goes in the passenger foot well and only soft stuff goes behind my head.
From my own experience, the C5 convertible trunk is larger than my C6 convertible trunk. The C6 is narrower than the C5 and the power top mechanism takes up more space than the manual top on the C5 .
I suspect the C5 Z06 trunk is simular to the C5 Vert Trunk. Remember the C5's . have three wells in the floor that are very useful also. That GF is going to have to learn to pack light. If she shops be prepared to ship her purchases home. lol
Real world usage - I think the C5 has a slight edge (definitely height wise!)
We also have a C5 Z06 and a C6 Coupe. We can transport more in the C6, but I don't think the Z06 has insufficient trunk space for most uses. The key is to carry soft-sided luggage. With hard luggage, shape comes into play more so than total cubic inches.
