Only have 400 miles on my ride, when can I really run it up to 6k rpms? owners manual says 500 and just can't wait to nail it! The sound at 4500 to 5 is really awesome with the dual mode exhaust. Did I say I love this car!

Totally identify with this! Waiting can be a challenge!
My Bride's car only has 350 miles on it.... chomping at the bit to open it up. Been avoiding the highways and just doing "scenic" driving for the past 6 weeks...
It will be sooo much fun once the break-in period is done
In the meantime I just spend time detailing the car...
your fine. your rings have taken a set, everything settled in to place. you have babied it long enough go ahead and hammer!!!
im sure the next 20 people are gonna say no do what the manual says.
how many race cars you see put 500 miles on them at half rpm. no just a lil break in time then hammer down. yes they arent intended to last 100,000 miles but they normally dont explode right away because of it either. just give it a few hundred miles of normal driving for all the parts to get freindly. then enjoy.
call someone like lme, katech, erl and see how long they say you have to wait before you really can enjoy their engines. go WFO.

Oh, thank you so much! like my Dad used to say, lets see what the engine can do. He was a Cadillac guy , always got a new car and hit the highway right away, told me if its going to break might as well find out now. Boy, he was lucky with his cars built back in the 70's and 80's!
Do it! I waited till I had 250 then hammered the crap out of it. Powershifted to second and third and just generally abused it. Felt bad afterward but the guilt slowly faded away.
If you have 250 miles on the car so the gears are broken in go ahead and hammer it. The engine was ready to go when they put it in the car but the rest of the drivetrain needs at least 250 miles to break in. The first day I had my 97 I put 250 miles on it and went to a local Go Kart track where we autocrossed and put quite a few miles on the car lapping the .5 mile track and doing practice launches.
I'm not advocating one way or the other but with respect to the engine there's a school of thought that says it's essential to go WOT in the first 20 miles to properly seat the piston rings. The following link provides more information:
FWIW I replaced my OEM engine with an LPE engine 5 or so years ago. The first thing done to my new engine was to blast it repeatedly on a dyno. I've never had any problem with it.
after the dealer replaced my blown engine I gave it a good thrashing right after i picked up the car... and i put thousands of track miles on it without any issues

My father built engines for years and he has always told me to break 'em in like I'm gonna drive 'em

I feel your pain, I kept the spurs off my GS until it clicked over 1,000 miles, then let it rip. Currently just under 2,000 on the clock and just getting some nice weather (finally!), so I'll be driving it more. Great car, I'm really liking it, I've had a few Vettes before, but the GS is by far the best.

The engine still has some breaking in I think. My Z06 sooted up the tail pipes pretty good the first 200 miles and used a bit of oil I think. Now, it doesn't burn a drop and the pipes stay clean.
Well, no, not yet. No safe place around here to sustain FT for very long. I have to select my time and place carefully. But... I must admit to punching is pretty hard from time to time!!
