Default New Guy

Just purchased my first vette. Drove 8 hours north to Chicago to get it. Its a 2007 LeMans blue Z51 6 speed.Only 25000 miles. Had the luxury of keeping my wife and her RX8 in my rear view mirror the whole way back. Good granny I thought i knew what fast was pre vette. I was wrong. Just glad i made it back to Paris, TN with my 2001 S10 plates on it without getting pulled over. To the court house tomorrow to get my plates ordered. Gonna say BROKE on it. Test drove the car in downtown Chicago at 8 o clock at night. Talk about real life Grand Tourismo. Question: will the new wear off or will i perpetually be smiling from ear to ear? BTW Im completely ignorant of all things vette and would appreciate any advice on what to keep an eye on with this car. Maintenance? etc Been on synthetic oil since birth along with premium gas. Thanks.

Clint,

Welcome! The smile is a side effect

What to watch out for ...

- other Vettes (wave)
- smokin hot chicks (I mean, your wife)
- mod fever
- the POlice (a.k.a. LEOs - law enforcement officers)
- Ricers
- did I mention the POlice?

Get some Zaino on that thing & post some pics

Other than Mobil 1 and premium gas, maintenance is pretty much like any other vehicle. Of course you can get obsessive about things with these cars, not that I can relate to that.

Also you came to the right place, this forum is a wealth of great information with a great group of members.

Congrats on your new ride.

Get an Owners Manual and read it, Seriously, read it several times.

There are many "quirks" in a C6, mostly electronics, and they can cause a lot of angst/grief the first time you encounter one.

If you don't have one check the Sticky/FAQ section for an online version.

And get a battery tender if you are going to let the car sit for more than a couple weeks.

Good Luck, Enjoy and by all means wave.
