Default Please help!!!

I recently purchased a 2007 Z51. The A/C would not work. Also had the imfamous chirping noise. Took it to local chev dealer and they said it was a bad tensioner pulley and that the belt had come off thus no air. 280 dollars later i had air. All was well till 10 hours later when i tried using A/C again. It did not work. I looked under the hood to find the little belt off again and the chirp did not go away. What do you guys think could be my root problem? Im not driving it even though i was told it would not hurt it because the belt is still rubbing the harmonic balancer. The HB was replaced 9 months ago under warrenty. Should i pay a private mechanic to put a better built under drive pulley and thicker belts or stick with dealership junk?

If there was something inherently wrong with the parts the Chevy dealer was using, I'd think we would see a lot more posts with these problems. I'd go back to the dealer and have them recheck what they were supposed to have fixed in the first place. I'd also check the regional forum section to see if the dealer you're using can be trusted with Vettes, and if not, see who everyone locally recommends. Some dealers have more experience with Corvettes than others.

The prob seems to be addressed by quite a few guys under tech and perf forum under wobbling and chirping HB and on the cac forum as well. Im just asking on general to get a few more opinions. Thanks

Check your Harmonic Balancer and look to see if the outer ring is moving toward the rack and pinion. The large serp belt will tolerate a lot of misalignment due to its length as where the short ac belt will not. The balancers have been known to fail. Also make sure the bolt is in the end of the crank.

The work performed by the dealer is warrantied for 30 days or longer and GM parts are warrantied for one year.
