I pulled the fuse and wanted to hear what it sounded like. Really did not like it, so I put the fuse back.
Like many of you, I am an old guy that has owned many big engined fast cars. I remember in the 60's how we use to laugh at the guys who installed glass packs. The sound only came from the mufflers and only when the car was moving. At idle, it was very quit. I owned a 67 Dodge Coronet R/T 426 Hemi. The sound my car made was from the engine and sounded real sweet. The 327 and 427 Vettes amoung others also sounded sweet.
Pulling the fuse, reminded me of Glass Packs. Obviously, everyone is different and if you like the sound then go for it, its your choice.
Does anyone (probably the old guys) feel the same ?
Drone is stinks, but that's why I invested a whopping $90 in the M2W switch. When the Mrs complains, I hit the switch and the car takes a chill pill. If only there was a remote for the Mrs.
Totally disagree, they aren't like glass packs at all. You are just opening the flaps so you can hear what the car really sounds like rather than the muffled down sound that gm put in as a feature cuz all you old guys want quiet cars but still have to have your Vette lol.
Why anyone would want a sports car that is quiet is beyond me. Makes no sense at all. That is what is great about the m2w though. With the click of a button you can have whatever sound you want and all for under 100 bucks
Well I'm an old guy too but I guess I'm not that old because I love the mild to wild switch and the only time I close the butterflies is when I drive into my neighborhood late at night.
I'm old to, hate the drone when highway cruising (when open), but love listening to it sing when doing spirited back roads driving. It's a great feature and remember when everyone was laughing about NPP as a stupid feature when it was brought out in the 08's, and why spend the money. No one laughs now..........
Actually wish it was louder when you open the butterflies up.

haha kinda think the Wifey may be getting used to it..not
M2W way to go..Mrs friendly.and.knows no age!!

Old guy here. Hate the drone on the highway but love the sound while idleing through town. Mild to Wild is the mod of choice.
I'm 32 and think it doesn't sound good either. So age has to do with it. I sold mine. I think it sound great when I get on it and it opens, which does happen often. The popping and warbling all the time is annoying. I don't need the hey look at me driving 20mph. It gets enough looks already
I installed a homemade "m2w" hardwired switch. I bought a $3 in line fuse holder and $3 switch from radio shack and $8 of 14 gauge copper wire at homedepot. 1 hour later it was all done and I now have a m2w switch mounted right on my console. Ill be honest, I leave the valves open most always. Only when I'm cruising at highway speeds will I switch it on and it just kills the drone. I call it the "drone killing switch"!
The biggest problem that most encounter when pulling the fuse is drone. There are particular frequency ranges that create an annoying harmonic and these come about at specific RPM ranges with the car. Typically (roughly) between 1,800 and 2,200 RPM. This comes in to play both tooling around town at low speed and when on the highway at cruising speeds. This drone can be very annoying to some and quite fatiguing even if you don't find it annoying to hear.
The reason the OEM exhaust is designed to operate as it does is to provide the loud sound from the motor at times when the drone will not be created and allows the flaps to close, change the exhaust flow and minimize the drone at the times when it would otherwise be present.
The Mild 2 Wild switch at least gives you the option to open them when you feel the need but more importantly it allows you to close them again when on the highway and or drone is or could be present (or when your significant other or neighbors tell you they've had enough of the sound)
I, like other forum vendors, carry the M2W remote. Very easy to install (typically under five minutes) and completely reversible. A nice compromise for those that want the sound but to have the option to control it or turn it off at will.
Old guy here too and had the same car except mine was the 440 engine and the stock exhaust sounded good. I think the NPP exhaust with the remote switch is the best all around exhaust system out there. Wild or Mild, it's your choice.

Great Photo. Brings back old times. In the sixties, we had a M2W switch. It was also known as a nine sixteenths box wrench. We used it to open/close our dump tubes. Granded, it took a little longer then operating the newest version of the M2W, and was flat out dangerous to do it at speed.
