Hey Guys,

So I test drove some of the competitions top cars and after looking around I ended up staying with corvette and picking up a C6 LT3 with the Z51 package.

All I can say is I am in love. I had done a fair amount to my C5 but this car HANDLES like a dream, pulls harder than I expected (especially at speed) and corrects just about ever gripe I had with the C5 (mostly all interior related issues).

Also picked up a 3 year warranty... I'm curious though; can you do ANY mods or will it void these things? At the very least I need exhaust -this thing sounds like a kitten.

On the the obligatory pics:

Congrats on the upgrade; I know you will be happy! As to the warranty, better check the language of the warrany document. I am sure some things are a go, the question is with the mechanical stuff. A warranty is a great comfort (and expensive) might as well protect it.

Congrats on your new ride and welcome to C6 Land. I did the same myself last year.

With regards to your question about modding the car, generally speaking *yes* mods will void your warranty, However as you know the world is not black and white. If you put a cat-back exahust on the car, I seriously doubt you will have warranty issues (but of course noone can gurantee that) if something were to go wrong.

Start adding headers and more mods, then the chances of you having warranty issues goes up significantly if you have problems with the car. A lot depends on the dealer and GM rep who would handle the warranty claim.

If you tune the car and mess with that, that is almost gurantee to voide the warranty if you were to have any problems.

Congratulations! It's safe to assume performance enhancing modifications will void vast portions of your factory or extended warranty. You're safe installing an after market cat-back exhaust but an exhaust is not a performance mod per se. If the warranty is that important, know that some of the premier names in Corvette performance (such as Lingenfelter and Callaway) offer their own warranty coverage. I know LPE offers a 3 year/36,000 mile warranty on many of their applications and I imagine Callaway would be comparable. If you really want to mod the car and have warranty coverage there are ways to do it. Enjoy your new Corvette!

You can change anything passed the cat, but as soon as you start messing with the cats and headers....your warranty is toast!! Do not get your car tuned!!! That will also void your warranty!

If your new ride is a 6MN, put a FULL C6 Z06 exhaust system on it....manifold to muffler. You'll get the benifit of a full 3" exhaust, bi-mode mufflers, and an OEM system that came factory on a Corvette...so no warranty issues.
Several LS3 owners believe that alone will give you 15+ additional HP (2.5" NPP's alone was worth 6 HP on LS3 cars)....enough for you to go play with that pesky IS-F

The over axle portion of the Z06 exhaust would need to be modified a bit to clear the rear cradle but everything else is a direct bolt-on. search the threads for all the information as this is a common upgrade and there's ton of information regarding it. Well worth the effort as you'll pickup up the HP, the sound, and the prices are usually right. Check the parts section now as there are several systems available right now

Did I also mention it's OEM....so you shouldn't get any grief over warranty stuff.

Do NOT tune or otherwise open the motor for cam etc.
Kiss the warranty goodbye if you do.

As for exhaust?
It's open season for that so go nuts, won't affect the warranty one iota.

She's a beaut, came from a '03 AE C5 myself to a '06 Z51 MZ6 car myself. These cars are something else. Nice color, too.
