Wow that's a lot of money. I don't know about NY but here in Florida this is big business for these lawyers. They run ads on the radio and have billboards. The guy I use is private and not part of any big ad campaign, he understands that charging $800 to drop a $200 ticket kind of defeats the purpose. I'd say you need to find a new lawyer....

Well I'll give "All the Cop Haters a Chance to HATE ME"

I'm retired since 1998, but before that when I was "On the Job" (active cop) & BEFORE I made rank (first Sgt. Then Lt or ID Supervisor) I would go out looking for some innocent mark! just a plane ol Joe doing nothing but maybe 3 or 4 over the limit...

GOTCHA! I usually would only pick on expensive cars or sport cars.. (knowing they would fight it) especially if I wrote them for 39 in a 35 zone)

That meant I'd get to go to court on my off day and make app $300 (win or lose the case)...also I knew the prosecutor and would ask for him to call my case ASAP.. so I'd be in Court 9:30am and outta there by 11am and made $300 !!

Another FAVORITE Of Mine was to look for an elderly person with a "Handicap" sticker hanging from the rear view mirror.....

I'd pull em over and ask are you handicapped...of course I'd always get a "YES" and they would show me the Doctors note..

Then I'd hit them with the BOMB.. I'd say you getting a summons for OBSTRUCTED VISION I would love to see them "plead for a break" BS you did the crime you pay the fine..

I call that the JPEE LAW hehehehe....

Of course I would also look for little things like no license plate light, or a signal light not working.... that was always good for a day in court!!

I'll stop here and now all the Cop Haters can "VENT" on me instead of picking on some LEO you don't even know.....

"Go ahead... make my day" !!
If this is true, I feel very sorry for you, you need some professional help.

So you wrote a lot of chickensh!t tickets, collected a lot of taxpayer money and you looked the other way as bums, vandals and illegals ravaged our society. Did all of the tickets you wrote, your career's work, make a difference in the world. No, you just ruined a lot of peoples days. Congatulations, the citizens you are supposed to be protecting now fear you and the criminals laugh at you.
I've seen cops radaring traffic while 200' away was an illegal selling oranges on the corner. The illegal doesn't fear you, the taxpaying motorist does. Arresting the illegal produces no income for your ridiculous pensions but the getting the speeder assures your outrageous benefit packages will continue. Good job copper, you and your kind are doing the Lord's work. You're far from heros, your selective tax collectors. Tell me again why I should like or respect cops.

Lots of firms specialize in tickets. Its big business here in Florida. Last I heard they were advertising $65.

What are they going to do for that little bit of money? Call the prosecuter, say they intend to plead not guilty, ask for a reduction to an equipment violation.

Unless you're a real menace to society the prosecutor will agree and its done.

Now if you were caught doing 50 over this isn't likely to work but for the radar trap 12 over situation that's how it worked for me.

Maybe, but I only have one lawyer I keep on retainer. I've never used him for a ticket (I haven't been caught in the last five years, then maybe 20 years before that.) nor has anyone in my family. I wouldn't think of calling him for a speeding ticket.

If I ever did really mess up, I would rather trust my assets and future to him (he would call in a specialists if needed) than a $65 TV lawyer. It sounds like your guy does good work though.

Of course, if you get a dui or hit and run kill someone you don't want a $65 TV lawyer.

But that's not what we're talking about.

Why did you even bring that into the discussion?

I thought I made it clear I was talking about a "run of the mill" 12 MPH over speeding ticket.

Evidently I didn't make it clear enough.

Jack....

In hindsight I see I was wrong in making my original post.. I "Tried" to be as ridicules as I could ...not believing anyone here would take it as the truth... I was wrong....

I will say I was not known for giving out many summons (weather you believe that or not) I was trying to be "SARCASTIC" and it appears I did a poor job of it and I do apologize for that.....

I never wrote up anyone with a handicap sticker & it was "ill conceived humor on my part" and just added fuel to the fire on the debate of the impressions some forum members have of LEO...

Sorry if I offended you and the others ....

Don't have a damned heart attack. My last post had nothing at all to do with what you posted.

My post included a quote from forg0tmypen stating "The guy I use is a traffic ticket wizard, dirt cheap. $100 flat fee to handle any kind of traffic ticket."

All I said was that I didn't want to give my case to that kind of a lawyer. I also stated to forg0tmypen that it sounded like his guy did a good job.

Having the Z51 pkg on my car - you have to be seriously getting into it to get 4000 rpm in 1st gear...and yes it is loud if you are modded or not.
