I'm always amused - surprised? - at the comments about turbulence with the top off.... different strokes for different folks, I guess...
Even in the xxx-digits I don't find the turbulence offensive - particularly if one keep the cargo "shield" in place...... But, of course, too, I've been driving convertibles and coupes since 1960, so, perhaps, I look at things differently...
I've had verts for about 12 years. Z3, Miata, 350Z, SLK350. I love the open air feel. My C6 coupe, however, not so much. Offensive is putting it mildly. I also find the process of taking the top off a bit inconvenient. This of course from a guy whose "other" car is a 2007 Jeep Wrangler. Talk about offensive turbulence and inconvenient top removal!!!
Maybe I am missing something here, but I just plain do not understand an individual who would by a targa coupe, and then complain about the "turbulence" with the top removed. Last time I checked, if you wanted to own a C6, you had three choices of body style; targa coupe, convertible or fixed roof coupe (Z06 or ZR1). Seems to me if one finds the "turbulence" objectionable, one would not buy a targa coupe in the first place. It appears to me that there are a few here who would be better served with either of the Zs. But then, there would be less to complain aout.
I would recommend putting the visors down before you reinstall the roof. That way you can't forget to throw the latches and join the Flying Roof Club. Unfortunately I speak from bitter experience.
The convertible and targa top regulations state:
1. Visors are to be parked in the up position when the top is off or on a convertible down, unless the sun is creating distress.
2. Side windows are to be down at all times with top off, or convertible top down.
Violators will be prosecuted.
Yes up it is. I just drove to the cruise and they need to be up so you can see! Lol
Btw I have no idea what some of you say about turbulence, I didn't notice anything. Pretty cool looking up and seeing the sky!!
I keep the visors down when the top is down on my vert. I was told with the visors up the visors may get splattered by bugs. Don't know if its true or not because I'm in the habit of putting them down.
