Lots of people have done it on lots of vehicles.

No problem with doing it on the C6. What you're talking about shouldn't even require longer studs or deeper lugnuts.

IMHO, 3mm same studs no issues. 5mm needs longer studs for the lug nuts

I just went through a Wilwood brake replacement and I required spacers for the calipers. I used 3mm on the rear and the oem studs, the fronts needed 5mm and I wasn't happy with the number of turns of the lug nuts. I went to the ARP 100-7708 studs and now I'm comfortable with the front wheel attachment.

Get some nice aluminum custom spacers made at Motorsport Tech and then get some extended thread lug nuts and you'll be set.

Most people use spacers for a functional purpose rather than for appearances. Ultimately, I'd look for different wheels/tires to solve your appearance problem (and for improved functionality) but using spacers should work fine. CCW makes some extremely nice spacers (or 'hub extenders').

I agree, although as long as the spacers are 0.30" or thinner, those ET lugs (which add another 0.30" of thread) will give you as much or more thread engagement than OEM, depending on how thick of a spacer one uses.
