Any help and info on this? I don't want to screw it up to bad and I want to do it myself. Thanks in advance
You want to do it the wet method. Do a search on the mix but its dish soap and water in a spray bootle and it's pretty easy. You can move the stripe if your not happy then squeegee and let dry. Don't forget to remove wax before install and let it sit out in the sun.
I've done it twice myself without any issues. I went to local auto parts and purchased their window tint kit. It comes with the solution you need and a squeegee. Clean the fenders really well. Spray solution on the fender area generously. Peel the decal and spray the decal with the solution also. Place the stripe in the position you want it ( since it's wet you'll be able to move it around with ease). Once you are happy with the position, hold it in place with one hand and start to squeegee the solution out with the other hand. If it happens to move on you, re- wet it and adjust it. Also, start in the middle of the decal and work your way out towards the edges.
When you're all done you can put the car in the sun to dry out or use a blow dryer/ heat gun ( set on low ) and go over the decal with a micro fiber towel. Your done at this point.
Where are you guys finding the stripes for a decent price? I've been looking but they're either priced way to high or terrible reproductions.
Yea, I had a Vendor tell me not to buy those ones shown here because he is going to start selling them, guess what, times up, that was like three months ago, I am buying these ones, please PM where you got the C/F ones.
I just put mine on last week. They were oem. The wet method is the only way to do it. The oem comes with a template. It was very easy. The wet method gives you time to move them around to get them just right. Go on youtube and look under decal install and you will find many videos to help but if you ever built a model plane when you were a kid and put the decals on it's just that easy.
Use isopropyl alcohol to clean the wax off the area. I went over mine a couple times until the micro fiber rag started to drag (you will feel it). The water solution is 24 ounces of water and 2 drops of uncented dish soap. That is the directions in the oem kit. You will also need some kind of plastic sqeegee.
