Default Ticket

Well just had my trial date. Most from my previous post said fight it. The cop showed and the Judge took the cops side. Lidar is just too much to fight. The judge did reduce the ticket to 147.00 and said something about Oregon people won't allow any lower of a reduction. I just don't understand who voted for that? Anyway I could have just showed up to the first hearing and got the 147.00. Cop did lie he said there was no tracto trailer anywhere near me. It was 8 car lengths infront, so on top of that how the hell can he remember that detail from April 10, 2011? So don't speed on Hwy 217, even though I still don't think i was going 69. Also it was 2nd ticket in 90 days--both were in the 9's 49-69...hmmm. What ever happened to warnings? Really dislike all of Tigard, OR (both tickets in Tigard) only tickets since I was 16.

Sorry, man but you already knew about this town. With the economy the way it is they are out for revenue wherever they can find it.

Two words.... laser interceptor

they can use lidar all they want.. they can just sit there pressing the trigger staring at a JTG on the screen.

Worth the money in terms of hassle and fines the first time you block one.

You could always do what my friend does.. have a camera recording your dash, then when you get pulled over, if you were truly not speeding, you get the cop for lying.... i mean making an honest mistake. Not a big fan of small town cops doing speed checks on HIGHWAYS... to make money for the town. This reminds me, i remember a town that was doing this, then everything collapsed because everyone avoided going through the area where the town was at and then the sherrifs were sent in to repo their cars... LOL

That hardup for revenue thing is pretty real. Ever hear of the Corvette stopped by state highway patrol for no front license plate===nothing else? It happens.

How can he remember? He can remember because they write notes about the incident, what they saw, what you said and what your demeanor was. Guess what a dot inside a circle means about your demeanor? LOL

You were screwed for the 2nd ticket as soon as they pulled you over and checked your record. If you really don't know how fast you were going than the cop was probably right or maybe gave you a break. Pay it, take a traffic class and move on. Live and learn.

Do yourself a favor and Roget that JTG crap! JTK, jam slow then kill. Let him get the reading at your new improved speed. Texas has now banned jammers due to a few people that loved to JTG LEO's. A couple of them fought back before the ban and cited them for Interfering with the duties of an officer. Costs them several thousand dollars in legal fees!

Interesting, they actually tried to fight in court over it and where ruled against? If there is no law banning something, its not illegal, they must of had sucky lawyers or a severely biased court. I am a bit surprised they were banned in Texas, you sure?

I agree with the other statement though, if you get hit, slow down to correct speed and let them tag you with their little toy. The whole point of these things is to avoid an encounter.

They are not illegal in FL yet, but they have already tried to ban radar detectors(it failed). I bet they will go after laser blockers, but they will have a fight on their hands.

"...Cop did lie..."

I'm sorry you didn't prevail but good on you for exercising your rights and fighting the ticket! If you believe you're in the right don't bend over and take it. Conversely, if you know you're responsible fess-up and pay the fine. Sadly, I'm not surprised the cop lied under oath. I've personally seen a cop lie in a sworn deposition and in court. I didn’t want to believe it but it wasn’t even questionable,I know the LEO lied. I support LEOs...I have friends who are cops. Hell, my dad wore a badge. Most cops are decent enough people but I now (sadly) believe LEO’s lie far more routinely than anyone realizes.

Exactly... this is what gets a lot of people. If, say, they were going 72 in a 65, and the officer asks how fast they were going, they might say they were going 67, hoping for a break. Well, you just admitted that you were speeding and the officer will note that on the back of his copy of the ticket for use in court, if needed.

Always best to state that you don't know how fast you were going, because the reality is that you really don't know how fast you were going when they clocked you.

Sorry about the fines. It doesn't sound like you did anything I haven't done. Maybe I have just been luckier choosing my moments to drop the hammer . . .

you had your day in court, this was the time you needed to show he was LYING, don't go to court and stand infront of the judge and go DUH...you knew he was going to lie, becuz all you guys that complain about getting a ticket are set that the LEOs are out to get them and are all liars....

It was 8 car lengths infront, so on top of that how the hell can he remember that detail from April 10, 2011?
they write down notes on every ticket they do, i guess you should have done the same thing..
well at least your day in court cost the county about $500.00 in wasted time, so your measly $147.00 fine was a loss for them...

well they can take the money you cost them from the schools i guess to make up the difference...
