Ok, conducted many searches, I have read all of the information now I need assistance tracking down a Tint person near Harrisburg PA.
I have interviewed two people so far that do not meet the cut, both of them told me that it would be hit or miss controlling the "Dot" issue. After reading and researching several thread posts I am not comfortable with anything less than perfection....... that being said HELP with Harrisburg PA area.
Thanks in advance!
I don't know anyone in your area but make sure they can do it in once piece also. I just purchased a 2005 coupe and it had tint on it already. The back window was done in 2 pieces.
My tint guy who has perfectly tinted 6 of my vehicles, 10 of my work vehicles and many of my friends vehicles is having trouble doing my rear window in 1 piece due to the curvature. He even had 2 friends who do tint come to the shop and they left scratching their heads. We are going at it for a 3rd time tomorrow with a different grade of tint.
Good luck to you! BTW, the dot matrix stuff you are referring too is almost never perfect. I've seen some good ones but none perfect.
The guy that did my windows won several awards for tinting. He managed th do the rear window in I piece but the dot matrix was still a small issue. It looks good but not perfect around the dot area. To get perfection, find or ask around for the place that uses vinyl over the dot matrix. Turns out the best. Good luck!
P.S. There is a window tinters forum ( can't remember the name ). Check on there for highly rated tinters in your area.
Thanks For the Pointers, I still have to find a local tint person that will show the confidence and competence that they can get the job done; I know that we have some professional folks out there that refuse to provide anything other than excellence. Unfortunately the two that I interviewed were just your run of the mill tint folks; which is fine, really, just not for me.
So My beautiful bride and I will continue the search.
In order to have NO bubbles around the dots you are going to have to use vinyl or sand the dots down before you tint. Otherwise its just not going to be perfect. I am a perfectionist as well and I was pissed about the air bubbles at first but I have gotten over it now.

If you would be willing to drive to northern VA I can refer you to a guy that did my 08 vette and just did my new Grand Sport yesterday. Both are flawless one peice rear with the vinyl covering the dots.
It would be about a two hour drive right down RT15 and it takes him about 1.5-2 hours to complete. Let me know if you want the info.
Was vinyl used on the dots around the border of the glass or just on the larger top area? Many times this border area looks silver, thus a silver outline of the hatch glass. Just trying to find an answer for this.

Just on the top area, not around the edges. I understand the edge issue, most cars these days have the dots around the edges and it can end up like a silver outline. It has to dry all the way before you know what it will ultimately look like. The darker you go with the tint the more it will show up, 35% was the darkest I can go on the rear in VA. I've had many cars tinted and it has never bothered me; I'm very picky about this stuff too. It hasnt even been 24hrs at this point so I won't know the final result for a few more days but I will try to post a pic sometime today anyhow.
thank you for the offer I will definitely consider this; we are going to continue to look for a place closer; but in the end it is not beyond us to have a ROAD trip
I will let you know either way, thanks again for the info and offer.
