Default The corvette stereotype

I found this article interesting but what really caught my attention was #7. What do you guys think?

http://autos.yahoo.com/news/top-10-m...rivers-do.html

EDIT: I hope this isn't a dupe.

I would have to agree.
Taking two spaces is just opening yourself up to possible damage from a person that has no regard for other peoples property.

I also think it's very arrogant to take up 2 spaces. I park my C6 at the back of the lot and I've never had an issue.

I totally agree with you guys. My point is that they used the corvette to visualize. It sort of gives reference to what type stereotype people have of our cars and their owners.

fo to the end of the lot. However, make sure the lot is well lit. Also, when I go out, I will usually pay extra to a valet to park it up front. Away for possible damage and vandalism.

I saw that article too. Its unfortunate that they have a picture of a guilty Corvette for their example photo. On the other hand, there are probably more Corvettes per capita than other nice cars so its more likely they'd find one parked that way.

Twenty-one years in Corvettes and more than 500,000 miles accumulated in 45 of the lower 48 states - have parked anywhere and everywhere with never a problem.

Ditto for 300,000 miles in Porsches.

I try not taking up two spots but sometimes the sun reflecting off of my gold chains and satin jacket impair my abilities to see exactly where one spot ends and the other begins. Being Corvette owners im sure everyone has experienced this same thing.

Do we bring these stereotypes because a decent percentage of vette owners do these types of things or because there's a small few that do and are very noticeable?

I would never park taking up two spaces. It just adds fuel to negative perceptions about Vette owners. I park far away. And, walk.

But what really grinds my gears is when I make the effort to park at the back end of the lot and somebody cozys their 85 reliant k car up next to me.

Maybe not the back of the lot; just away from other cars.

I don't and haven't for the most part park anything I've ever owned between cars in a crowded parking area. Not in years.Nothing, I'm always in the back or on the end or next to a piling or wall. Its my vehicles and my hard earned money. I see all kinds of damage that seems to stem from I don't give a xxx types. Some times I've been next to another that you can tell feels same way. I see lots of Harley's taking up primo spots where they park. But I don't take up two spaces.

Depending on whether or not I feel like I'll get in trouble... I park horizontally.

I would hope that we all parked horizontally.

I've seen different kinds of cars take-up two parking spaces. I hardly think the practice is limited to Corvettes.

They didn't list the people who park in handicap spots and aren't handicapped. I think those people are more irresponsible than those who take up 2 spaces.

As for myself, I'll try to park next to a curb at the end of an aisle, as close as possible with plenty of space between me and the next space.

Well at least the writer didn't single out the vette. He cited a BMW in his text.

In any event, taking two spaces is not a good idea.
