If I had ten million dollars in the bank and any one of my three kids had graduated from Harvard on a full ride, I still would not purchase them anything close to this (Very nice by the way). I'm going to let them enjoy the pride of working for something and then finally being able to purchase it after some sacrifice. I'm old school I guess
Times have changed. I got and a "good job and congrats, now get a job"
No, times really have not changed....Parents that could afford to buy their kids cars have been doing so since they were invented.
I was a military kid, so the income wasn't there for such nice things.
Now, I make enough dough that I was able to make a deal with my boys. Get 3.0 or better and you get a very nice used car....like a mustang or camaro. Get a 3.75 or better in your H.S. junior year gets you a brand new car, their choice (within reason) They must also get their Eagle Scout for the new car.
I am not for handing kids expensive cars just because I can afford it. I am all about rewarding hard work and maturity.
My boys are 12 and 9....so far, the grades are there and the oldest is on track for his Eagle Scout in about a year. I am a very fortunate dad.

If someone wants to purchase their daughter a new car for high school graduation it is no ones business but their own.....post it here and be prepared for others to comment.

More or less this is true. My Dad could afford it but chose not to. And I was good with his decision. But he let me fly.
The HS parking lot in our community is loaded with MBs, BMWs, Lexus, Acuras, Mustangs, Camaros, etc. My two drove nice late model cars, just not high end. However I rewarded them in other ways. For example, I also let my son fly planes. He had his Private Pilot Certificate and Instrument rating before he graduated from HS. One year later, at the end of his first year of college, he is ready for his Commercial license checkride.
My graduation gift was my graduation, with honors, in a technical discipline...oh, and my parents paid for ALL of it. No particular gift when I actually graduated from college.
But I had very nice cars, plural, in high school and college.
Okay, getting WAY off track. I love the Camaro. And of course the Vette.
