Well I was undecided on what transmission I really wanted so went out to my buddies with the Z's. He gave me the fob to the Z06 so the wife and I took it and he and his wife took his new GS vert with the A6. We stopped halfway on the trip and exchanged cars. I hate to say it but I think I'm getting old and lazy. I really loved his GS vert with the paddles.Don't get me wrong the Z06 was fun to drive, but for casual cruising (which is 90% of our trips) I preferred the auto with the paddles. So the search continues. I have a great car so I'm in no rush.
The dealer has already called and has located a Crystal Red 3lt with the auto. Only another 5K more. Now the wife thinks she wants a vert.
Sounds like you just want something new. You have a perfect low mile '05 ( you've kept it perfect right? ).
You have the car just the way you like it. I presume it's paid for.
You've owned it since new.
You have no payments.
My advice? Save your money. Watch the C7 intro very closely. Sell your '05 in advance of the first release of photos and info on the C7. This will get you more money. All C6s MAY drop in value immediately when the C7 becomes a known quantity.*
Then....take your "saved" money from all the payments on the '11 you don't have, all the saved money you've been saving from having no payments, and the money you get for the '05 and have the newest thing on the block.
* Warning: ( and this is only my opinion ) If they let the same crew who designed the butt ugly new Camaro design the C7....things might not go so badly for C6 values. It's indisputable that the ugly brick ( Camaro ) is selling very well.
However, for the most part, it sells to a very different market than a CORVETTE!
ps. Run those miles up on your '05. When you sell it in , say, two years it won't matter much if you have 20,000 miles on it or 45,000 miles...it will still be a one owner, all papers, good condition, low mile vette. Why give the next owner all those trouble free miles that are still in the car? Use them yourself! Drive it cross country etc.
Why not? I hear the C7 will have an 8 speed manual, 10 speed automatic, 3.2sec 0-60, and get 42 mpg.
pps. Downside risk on the C7 is that the msrps will take a big step up and the stealers will tack on 5 or 10k "market adjustment" for the first ones sold.

Reason: sp
If I were going from what you currently have to another C6, it would have to be significantly different. Maybe a convertible, maybe a Grand Sport, maybe a different transmission, BUT more likely SEVERAL or ALL of those upgrades combined.

Thanks, I do believe this is the mindset that we both agreed on when we were driving my buddies new 4lt GS vert yesterday. Maybe we will just wait a little while longer. If the right low mileage GS vert would pop up for sale that could speed up the process. No hurry, we both like the one we have. It has another five years on the extended warranty, but it never hurts to look.
Since you have had your car for only 1 year and 4500 miles and already want a different one, it appears you did not do your homework before buying it.
Learn from that before you choose another. In a year and a half the C7 will probably appear and you may regret going for another C6.
Or it could be I wasn't willing to initially spend 50K plus on a toy I wasn't sure I would enjoy as much as we do. I now know we both love it and could justify buying a new one.
