Default Need some input.............

I currently have a hold on a new Vette till Tuesday. I have a 05 14K mile 1sb(3lt) auto with f55. I am looking at a 2011 2lt manual without f55.I kinda think I would like a manual transmission but the question is would you consider going from a 3lt w f55to a 2lt non f55. Dealer is being fair. They have the price discounted 8K and are giving me a good trade allowance. The little bit I test drove it I thought it rode better than mine......

sounds to me like you won't miss the add ons fr. the '05. plus, trend-wise, you keep the car 6 or so model-years so it's not like it's a lifetime of regret if you don't like the '11. finally, if you don't like it, probably this same dealer will be around with C7s in however many years it takes for those to come out, 3, 4, etc.

short answer, in your shoes, yes, I would try it.

There are a signifigant number of improvements since 2005, engine, tranny, steering to mention a few. Only you can decide if the power accessories mean that much to you. Performance wise 2011 is a better car in every way. Good luck !

Short answer is Yes. Once you are behind the wheel of the 2011 you will not regret the adds on you did not pay for and you will not miss them.

Your are loosing options that you'll miss, and paying for the loss. I suggest getting a car with equal options and the manual transmission or keeping your current car and waiting on the new C7. I'm waiting.

I wouldn't even consider going down in content but that's just me. I'd much rather spend a little more and get at least a 3LT + navigation since I know that I'll continue enjoying the extra features long after I forget about spending the extra $$$.

Why trade a C6 with 14,000 miles on it? The loss will be tremendous and for what? The new one looks almost like the 05. If you get the same color your neighbors wont even know you got a new one. You don't drive it enough for the auto or manual and F55 to make that much difference.
The C7 will be out in a few years why not wait?

Ask yourself;
1) why am I trading my '05 I've owned since new?

2) Why do I want to give up content that I already own? (3LT w/F55 to 2LT w/out F55);

3) why do I want a new Vette that looks identical to the one I already own?

I can tell you that the LS3 IS a great engine.....I've never owned LS2, but have read it too is a great engine....personally, only way I would want to do it would be for equal what I already own (3LT w/F55, nothing less than....)....I can also say I would like the extra HP as well.....even though it's 30 horsey's.....it's 30 MORE than I have now.....(36 more if get NPP).....

I'm on this side of the fence too. Also, some things that were part of the 3LT a few years ago are now included in 2LT.

The mileage is a little misleading. I bought the car last spring and it had 9700 miles on it. So I put 4500 miles on it since I had it. Neighbors not knowing I got a new one is kinda a plus, to much jealousy and negative feelings with most coworkers and neighbors. Thanks for the input I'm feeling on this one.

If I were you, I would not do it. There are many things you can do to you car to make it feel new again to you. You only drove the car 4500 miles in a year, so my advice to you is, no. Not worth it considering you dont drive the car much. You still have to be losing on the trade, so why not wait to see what the C7 has to offer you?

Buy a 3LT '11 Six Speed Grand Sport W/F55 and you will have a significantly different/better Car than you now have. Otherwise forget it.

I took a step down in content with my '08 2LT coupe. But I found that the only thing that I missed was the HUD. I purchased the HUD kit from Partstaxi and installed that myself in about three hours. I purchased a Kenwood Nav/audio system with back-up camera, iPOD and Bluetooth capability from Dennis at Double D mods (had that professionally installed) and I was good to go. Over time, more as a hobby and for something to do on weekends, I have added the universal home remote (driver side sunvisor; easy change) heated seats, steering wheel radio controls, Z51 brake package, etc. I enjoy piddling with the car, but I am by no means a mechanic. But I have the service manual for the car and I can read. Now, after all this time, the only thing my 2LT lacks that a 3LT has is the telescoping steering column, and the memory pkg. Since I am the only driver, doubt that I will address those.

I might add that when I bought the car, I did not plan on adding any of these items; didn't even know that you could add the HUD. But, as I would browse the forum and read about these add on projects, I thought, "hey, why not try that". Anyway, I have enjoyed the projects, but I never thought I needed the stuff.

I'm not sure what to tell you. It all comes down to what you want. I'm have no idea what this would cost, but it seems like you may be spending a lot of money to get less features. As far as LS3 vs LS2. Did you drive the car to the limits of the LS2 now? Do you not like how the 05 steering feels? If the money seems right then you are just upgrading years and you will be ok when it comes time to trade the 2011 in. Then again I remember you saying you have a warranty on the 05 for a very long time, like 5 more years?? Oh heck Randy I think I'm just as confused as you on this one????

If you want the '11 and have the coin then get it. If it is a stretch, or a significant impact financially, then keep yours. It's got gobs of good life left in it.

I'm no corvette expert, but I would not trade your 05 for an 11 unless you go GS, Z or ZR1. There are not enough differences to make it worth trading if you like to 05 you already have unless you just really want a manual. Are there really that many differences in suspension that would make the ride that much better?

I bet if I drive your car I will not notice hardly any difference in the driving experience in general. Come on over to my place, drive my GS if you have not driven one yet.

You should just go GS vert... Now that would be a nice trade
